The Aggies will be looking to junior Kelvin Freeman to
continue swinging a hot bat this season.
He boasts a career .350 batting average (120 hits in 343 at-bats in 98
games) with 23 doubles, a triple, 13 home runs and 83 RBI in his career with
A&T...He ranked among MEAC leaders in doubles, home runs, and slugging
percentage as a sophomore last season...Was a part of 35 double plays, and made
446 putouts with 21 assists and just nine errors for a .981 fielding percentage
last season... Was named 2010 MEAC Rookie of the Year and 2010 Louisville
Freshman All-American.
2011 Season: As a
sophomore, batted .353 with 17 doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 40 RBI and
37 runs in 53 games...Walked 14 times and struck out 2 times...Stole three
bases...Had the eighth best slugging percentage in the MEAC at .541, and was
fourth in the MEAC with 17 doubles...Was ranked fourth in the conference and
second on the team in home runs...Went 3x5 with a double and a season-high four
RBI on April 30 in the first game of a doubleheader at Delaware State...Had four
doubles in three straight games from May 8 to May 11...Homered in back-to-back
games in the doubleheader on April 30 at Delaware State...Had a season-high
three-hits in seven games...His longest
hitting streak was six games, which he achieved four times in 2011.
2010 Season: Batted .369 with six doubles, six home
runs, 43 RBI, and 30 runs in 45 games as a freshman at A&T...Walked six times
and struck out 17 times...had one stolen base all season...Ranked eighth in the
MEAC in RBI...His best game was on May 8, in the second game of a doubleheader at
Coppin State, when he went 4x5 with a double, two home runs, nine RBI and three
runs...It was the most RBI he had in a single game all season...The four hits was
also a season-high...Doubled in back-to-back games on April 21 and April 24...Hit
safely in 13 consecutive games from April 21 to May 14.
High School: At
Eugene Ashley High, Freeman competed in varsity baseball for two years, and was
named 2nd Team All-Conference.
Personal: Full
name is Kelvin Freeman...He is the son of Raymond and Elaine Freeman...Was born on Jan.
25, 1991 and has one sibling, Raymond, Jr....Majors in sports science... Hopes to
compete in professional baseball after graduation.
