2020 Season: Appeared in five games with four starts … Went 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA… Threw 23.1 innings and allowed nine runs with a team-high 25 strikeouts and just seven walks… Ranked 29th in the nation in games started … Ranked sixth in the conference in ERA … Was tied for fifth in the MEAC in innings pitched … Finished fourth in the conference in strikeouts … Secured pitcher of the week honors from the MEAC once… Threw five innings allowing no runs on four hits with four strikeouts against George Mason on Feb. 14 to earn his first win of the season… Went 7.0 innings allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts against Fairfield on Feb. 29.
2019 Season: Appeared in 19 games with eight starts … Played the role of midweek starter for the Aggies throughout the season … Posted a 2-2 record with 34 strikeouts, 20 walks and a 2.98 ERA in 57.1 innings pitched … In his eight starts, he was 1-2 with 20 strikeouts, 10 walks and a 3.71 ERA in 34 innings pitched … His one win as a starter came on May 10 when he went five innings, gave up two earned runs and struck out three in a crucial 5-4 win that helped the Aggies clinch the MEAC Southern Division title … In relief, he made 11 appearances with a 1-0 record, 14 strikeouts and 10 walks … Posted a 1.93 ERA in 23.1 innings with opponents hitting .212 against him … Pitched two innings of relief where he gave up only one walk in the Aggies 3-2 win at Elon on April 24.
 2018 Season: Appeared in 12 games with six starts posting a 1-4 record and a 7.96 ERA…Struck out 16 batters with 18 walks over 26.0 innings pitched … Held opponents to only two extra-base hits …Made three relief appearances during MEAC play, posting a 6.75 ERA … Held opponents to a .273 batting average in MEAC games … Earned first career victory tossing 5.0 innings allowing one run striking out four vs. USC Upstate on March 27 … Made first career start at NC. State going 4.1 innings on Feb. 20 … Had a solid start against eventual College World Series participant North Carolina at Chapel Hill as he went six innings giving up four hits, one earned run and striking out three in a 1-0 defeat on March 13 … Threw 0.1 innings vs. UNC in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on June 1.
High School: Chavis played varsity baseball at Purnell Swett High School along with current teammate McKinley Strickland ...  Was an All-Southeastern 4A Conference selection ... Was also a two-time All-Robeson County honoree ... Prior to his senior season, he was selected as a preseason Rawlings All-American honorable mention.
