Biography

Started his career with the Savannah State Tigers, formerly of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) … SSU moved down to Division II in 2019 … Transferred to N.C. A&T as a senior and became a key part of the Aggies indoor team … Never got to run an outdoor season for the Aggies because of the coronavirus outbreak … Has run the 400m, the 600m, 800m, 1500m and mile in his career … Also has cross country accolades in his career … Competed in 50 meets during his career … During his career, both at Savannah State and N.C. A&T, Abbkar has totaled 39 top-5 finishes, 20 first-place finishes and has three MEAC titles (indoor and outdoor included). 

2020 Indoor Season (N.C. A&T): Season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

2019-20 Indoor Season (N.C. A&T): Competed in five meets during his senior indoor season after transferring to N.C. A&T from Savannah State … Won the first race he ran for N.C. A&T as he finished the 600 meters in 1:19.10 at the Hokie Invitational on Jan. 25 … Won the 800m at the Carolina Challenge on Feb. 1 by running a 1:50.45 on Feb. 1 … Also won the 800m at the prestigious Tyson Invitational on Feb. 15 by running a 1:48.91 … Won two MEAC indoor titles at the 2020 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships as he claimed gold in the 800m and the distant medley relay … Ran a 1:52.50 to win the 800 and his DMR team ran a 10:04.29 … Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 800m before the meet was cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak. 

2019 Outdoor Season (Savannah State): Competed in nine meets during his junior outdoor season … Opened the season with a win in the 800m by running a 1:52.62 at the Charlotte 49er Classic on March 16 … Won the 400m at the Savannah State Twilight on March 27 by running a 48.18 … Won the 800m and finished second in the 400m at the Georgia Southern Invite by running a 1:56.12 in the 800 and a 49.25 in the 400 … Won the 800m at the Gamecock Invitational Outdoor by running a 1:50.30 on April 13 … Won his first-ever MEAC title at the 2019 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at N.C. A&T by running a 1:51.26 in the 800m … Qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round in the 800m and qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field by running a 1:49.70 in the 800m at the East Prelim … Ran a 1:51.88 at the NCAA nationals on June 6. 

2018-19 Indoor Season (Savannah State): Participated in six meets during his junior indoor season … Placed third at the UAB Vulcan Invitational in 1:53.50 in the 800m … Also placed third at the Carolina Challenge in the 800m with a time of 1:50.88 on Feb. 2 … Had a second-place finish at the USC Open Indoor in 1:53.18 in the 800m on Feb. 16 … Placed second in the 800m at the 2019 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 1:54.53 on Feb. 23.

2018 Outdoor Season (Savannah State): Competed in nine meets during his sophomore outdoor season … Ran a personal-best 3:56.53 in the 1500m at the Tiger Orange and Blue Classic to finish second on March 10 … Won the 800m at the same event with a time of 1:59.21 … Also won the 800m at the 49er Classic on March 17 with a time of 1:51.90 … Finished second in the 800 at the Weems Baskin Relays with a time of 1:50.72 on March 24 … On April 21, placed second in the 800m at the USC Open with a time of 1:52.61 … Six days later, he ran a 1:50.82 in the 800m at the North Florida Invitational … Placed second at the 2018 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800m with a time of 1:49.75 … Qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary in the 800m.

2017-18 Indoor Season (Savannah State): Competed in seven meets during his sophomore indoor season … Earned his first win of the season at Dunamis Super Meet when he ran a 1:54.79 in the 800m on Feb. 11 … Had wins in the 800m and 1500m at the Savannah State Eyeopener on Feb. 24 when he ran a 1:55.19 in the 800 and a 4:07.10 in the 1500. 

2017 Outdoor Season (Savannah State): Competed in seven meets during his freshman outdoor season … Won the first outdoor meet he competed in collegiately by running a 4:07.35 in the 1500m to claim victory at the Tiger Orange and Blue Classic on March 11… Won the 800m at the Tiger Twilight by running a 1:53.70 on March 29 … Had a third-place finish at the Gamecock Invitational on April 15 by running a 4:04.37 in the 1500m. Placed fourth at the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 6 with a time of 1:51.59. game road winning streak in MEAC play. 

 2016-2017 Indoor Season (Savannah State): Participated in seven meets … Had his collegiate debut on Dec. 4 at the UNCG Early Bird Duals where he finished 14th in the mile at 4:40.55 … Had his first career top-5 finish at the UNCG Dual Meet Madness on Jan. 29 when he finished third in the mile at 4:26.14 … Had his first career win when he ran the 800 meters in 1:53.41 to win at the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitational on Feb. 4 … Won the 1500m and the 800m at the Savannah State Eyeopner on Feb. 25 when he ran a 4:03.76 in the 1500 and a 1:52.90 in the 800.
