Women's Golf Completes Shortened Tot Hill Farm Invitational

ASHEBORO, NC – The North Carolina A&T women's golf team completed the Tot Hill Farm Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston at par-72, 6,023-yard Tot Hill Farm Golf Course.

The tournament featured 13 teams and was shortened from three rounds to two because of inclement weather. A&T placed 13th by shooting 87-over (331-332—663). The Aggies played without two-time Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Golfer of the Week, Ekaterina Prokhorova.

Senior Polina Marina led the Aggies by finishing 52nd with an 18-over (80-82—162). Senior Ana Rodriguez and freshman Kaathiyayani Gunasegar finished in a tie for 54th place. Rodriguez shot a two-round 19-over (82-81—163), and Gunasegar finished at 19-over after a first-round 79 and a second-round 84.

Charleston won its tournament by shooting 9-over (297-288—585), overcoming first-round leader Old Dominion, which finished second with a 14-over 590. Coastal Carolina rounded out the top three by shooting a 23-over 599. Coastal Carolina's Carla Bourdeaux won the individual title. She was the only golfer to finish below par, shooting a 3-under 141.

Bourdeaux finished four strokes ahead of Charleston's Emille Von Finckenstein, who shot 1-over 145 for the tournament. Old Dominion's Puneet Bajwa and Alina Shchepteva, and Charleston's Adrian Anderson finished in a three-way tie at 2-over 146.

Marina started the first round on the par-5, 489-yard fifth at Tot Hill Farm, where she unfortunately carded an eight. She recovered nicely with three straight pars and a birdie on the 464-yard, par-5 eighth. A bogey on nine moved her back to 3-over. After making the turn to the back nine, Marina carded six more pars, two bogeys and a double bogey. She did not have a birdie in the second round, but recorded 10 pars, six bogeys and two double bogeys.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez started her first round on the fifth, where she carded a par. After a bogey on No. 6, Rodriguez secured her first birdie of the tournament with a three on the par-4, 368-yard seventh. Her front nine ended with a bogey and a double bogey before making the turn at 10 and securing a par. She also carded nine pars, six bogeys and two double bogeys during the second round.

Gunasegar did not have a first-round birdie. She did shoot even par on 12 holes. Gunasegar's second round started on the par-4, 359-yard ninth. She parred the hole before moving to the back nine. She started the back nine with two straight pars before a double bogey on 12. Two more pars led to her first and only birdie of the tournament, a two on the par-3, 139-yard 15th. Gunasegar ran into trouble with an eight on the par-4, 17th, before securing two consecutive pars.

She moved back to the front nine, where she carded three pars, four bogeys and a double bogey. Senior Tori Mouton shot 31-over (90-85—175) over two rounds. Mouton secured two birdies during the tournament.

In the first round, she scored a birdie on the par-4, 371-yard second. In the second, Mouton birdied the 364-yard, par-4 12th. Junior Sofia Rodriguez shot 34-over (93-85—178). The Aggies return to action October 11-12 at the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, NC, for the SAS HBCU Championship.
