CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The North Carolina A&T men's tennis team dropped a road contest against Queens University, 5-2, on Friday evening at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
The Aggies (0-5) got off to a hot start on the doubles courts. Sophomore Vasil Ivanov and freshman Esteban Lopez teamed up on the No. 1 doubles court and defeated Edoardo Bottino and Edoardo Cecere, 6-2.
On the No. 2 doubles court, senior Nicholas Arduh and freshman Eadwyn Bacar bested Jan Malmon and Yoan Roussinov, 6-2, to claim the doubles point and go up 1-0 in the match.
The Royals (5-1) took the first four singles matches (No. 3, 4, 2, 6) before sophomore Nolan Martino defeated Queen's Kasper Rolfsen, 4-6, 6-3, 11-9, to make it 4-2. The Royals took the final point on the No. 1 court as Bottino defeated Ivanov 7-5, 3-6, 10-6.
The Aggies will open up conference play on Monday, March 15, when they welcome Morgan State University to the Aggie Tennis Center at 12 p.m. at the Aggie Tennis Complex.
