ROCKY MOUNT, NC – North Carolina A&T men's tennis regular season came to an end at North Carolina Wesleyan with a 4-2 loss to the Battling Bishops at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center on Saturday.
Despite the loss, junior
Kaua Santos closed a spectacular regular season with another win, defeating Adam Singleton at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Santos has won his last four matches, even as the Aggies dropped to 10-11 overall after their sixth straight loss. He improved to 10-2 in his 12 matches at No. 1 singles, and holds a 4-1 record at No. 2.
Sophomore
Jindrich Brill earned A&T's other win, strengthening his 2026 prospects. Returning to No. 2, he defeated Albert Stillwell, 6-1, 7-6. Brill has had two strong seasons; he is 13-6 this year, including 10-3 at No. 2 singles and 28-9 in two years.
The Aggies were close to picking up another win at No. 4 singles. Freshman
Gabriel Linovic went three sets with Farhaam Patrawala, losing the first 6-0 before dominating the second 6-1. In the final set, Patrawala pulled away with a 6-2 win. Freshman Illan Olefir also saw his No. 6 singles, but it went unfinished because the Bishops had already clinched the match.
Olefir lost the first set to Indrek Raudkivi 6-4 before recovering to win set No. 2 6-1. The two gentlemen were tied at 1-1 before the match ended. The Bishops' other two wins in singles play came at No. 3 and No. 5. A&T freshman
Niklas Laux lost to Ben Russell 6-3, 6-3. At No. 5, senior
Mathieu Dussaubat lost to Martin Cardestig 6-1, 6-0.
Wesleyan earned the doubles point, winning two of three matches. Santos and Brill took A&T's win, beating Singleton and Stillwell 6-2. A&T lost at No. 2 doubles (Russell/Patrawala over Laux/Dussaubat, 6-4). Brody Brice and Raudkivi topped Olefir and freshman
Ben Werle at No. 3 to clinch the point.
Santos is among several Aggies expected back next season. The Aggies routinely played four freshmen, and Brill has two years of eligibility left.
