COLUMBIA, SC/WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University men's tennis team has had a successful October during its fall season.
The Aggies have played in two tournaments so far this October: the ITA Regionals, hosted by the University of South Carolina (USC) at the Carolina Tennis Center, and the Wake Forest Invitational, hosted by Wake at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. Senior
Kaua Santos, freshman Nathan Andre Halahija, Yonatan Sagiv, and
Jindrich Brill competed for the Aggies at USC.
A&T earned some impressive wins along the way, with Sagiv defeating Duke's Jakub Smejcky. Santos beat a player from the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), College of Charleston's Jacob Smith. Santos joined Brill and the All-CAA doubles duo to defeat Davidson's team of Nico Carneiro and Goyo Hidalgo. Eleven days later, the Aggies started play in the Wake Forest Invitational, Oct. 23-25. Freshmen Maskim Mhic and Josh Collidor, along with senior Mathieu Dussabaut, joined Santos, Halahija, Sagiv, and Brill at Wake Forest. The men secured impressive wins at Wake, including another marquee doubles win by Brill and Santos.
After their win at USC, Brill and Santos defeated Ty Switzer and Stefan Ragalia of the University of Virginia. In singles, the Sagiv had a strong showing. Sagiv started with a win over UNC Chapel Hill's Oliver Naburt after Narbut retired with an injury after the two players split the first two sets. Sagiv then defeated Davidson's James Wakefield in three sets. Ragalia ended Sagiv's run with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Collidor also had a nice autumn win. Collidor beat James Madison's Ethan Boswell 7-6 (11-9), 2-6, 6-3. Halahija continued to play well.
After a three-set loss to Ragalia, he beat Davidson's James Wakefield in North Flight 6. Santos started his tournament with a three-set win over Charlotte's Jack DiMenna.
