DULUTH, Ga.—  Ekaterina Prokhorova opened her senior campaign with a dominant and historic performance. Prokhorova broke five North Carolina A&T women's golf program records and tied another to win the Bridgewater HBCU Invitational Tournament played this week at the 72-par, 5,738-yard TPC Sugarloaf Golf Course for the Bridgestone HBCU Invitational Tournament.

Prokhorova won the tournament by shooting a three-round 14-under 202 over Wednesday and Thursday. Her 202 breaks A&T's 54-hole record set by Paris Fieldings during the 2023 Elon Invitational. Prokhorova's two-day journey became so dominant that she won the tournament by 18 strokes over Howard'sHoward's Marley Franklin. It is the program record for margin of victory.

It also allowed the Aggies to win the tournament, their 10th team win since the program started in 2016. The Aggies shot a final-day 9-over 297 to secure the victory. A&T's 297 in the first and final rounds broke the program record for best round, topping their previous mark of 303 from the 2019 SSU Tiger Invitational. A&T also shot a record-breaking 30-over 894 over three rounds.

Meanwhile, Prokhorova's pursuit of the record book continued throughout the tournament. In the first round, Prokhorova carded six birdies on her way to a 67, tying the A&T record for lowest scoring round with Paris Fieldings from 2023.

In round two, she tallied a 68, with five birdies and an eagle, giving her a 135 two-round total to surpass senior teammate Tori Mouton'sMouton's 36-hole program record of 142 at the 2024 HBCU SAS Invitational.

She finished with a 67 in the final round, including a program-record seven birdies in an 18-hole round, breaking Christyn Carr'sCarr's record of five at the 2021 Stephens Cup. Prokhorova also made a program-record 18 birdies for the tournament.

"(Ekaterina) owned the course, and let us ride with her to the winners' circle," said A&T's director of golf Mesha Levister, who was coaching her first tournament in the role. "This performance shows how special she is."

Prokhorova carded six birdies on Wednesday, including three of the four par 5s on the course. Her only bogey came on the par-3 fourth. The highlight of Round 2 was the eagle she posted on the par-5, 495-yard 10th. She shot an incredible 4-under on the 10th, birdieing the hole again on Thursday. Prokhorova had help during the week.

Teammate Polina Marina finished third by shooting a three-round 7-over 223. She carded nine birdies for the tournament, finishing ahead of Mouton, who finished tied for fourth by posting a 10-over 226. She had the second-highest number of birdies, finishing with nine over the two-day event.

Ana Rodriguez (81-81-81-243) and Sofia Fernando (81-85-85-251) also competed for A&T during the week. The Aggies did not do too badly, considering they were the last team to join the tournament.

"I can't make this stuff up. We got in when another school dropped out, so that makes it even more special to bring these trophies back to Aggieland," said Levister. "This group has embraced change with resilience, hard work, and a lot of humor on the way! It is the first layer of what Aggie Golf is about."

The women will tee up again locally on Monday, September 15, at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, NC, for the Elon Invitational.
