Prokhorova's Record-Breaking Performance Leads to CAA Weekly Honor

Prokhorova is the second Aggie in women's golf program history to win a weekly honor.

GREENSBORO – The records and milestones keep coming toward Ekaterina Prokhorova after her sterling performance during the North Carolina A&T women's golf team's season-opening tournament, the Bridgewater HBCU Invitational.

Prokhorova won the tournament by an incredible 18 strokes last week, earning her Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Golfer of the Week accolades as a result. She becomes only the second A&T golfer to win the weekly honor. Paris Fieldings was the first, winning the honor on March 20, 2024.

"Earning CAA Player of the Week out of the gate sets the tone for what's possible for Aggie golf," said A&T director of golf Mesha Levister. "Ekaterina is the epitome of hard work, dedication and resilience. I'm excited to see where this year goes for her and her teammates."

Prokhorova played nearly flawless golf last week at the par-72, 5,738-yard TPC Sugarloaf Golf Course in Duluth, Ga. She broke five A&T women's golf program records and tied another to win the Bridgewater HBCU Invitational Tournament. She won the Aggies' final tournament of the 2024-25 season, the PGA Works Championship in May, thus becoming the first Aggie, men or women, to win back-to-back tournaments.

Prokhorova's 54-hole score of 202 broke the program record set by Paris Fieldings during the 2023 Elon Invitational. Prokhorova's two-day journey became so dominant that she won the tournament by 18 strokes over Howard's Marley Franklin. It is the program record for margin of victory.

It also allowed the Aggies to win the tournament, their 10th team win since the program started in 2016. Meanwhile, Prokhorova's pursuit of the record book continued throughout the tournament. In the first round, Prokhorova carded six birdies on her way to a 67, tying the A&T record for lowest scoring round with Paris Fieldings from 2023.

In round two, she tallied a 68, with five birdies and an eagle, giving her a 135 two-round total to surpass senior teammate Tori Mouton's 36-hole program record of 142 at the 2024 HBCU SAS Invitational.

She finished with a 67 in the final round, including a program-record seven birdies in an 18-hole round, breaking Christyn Carr's record of five at the 2021 Stephens Cup. Prokhorova also made a program-record 18 birdies for the tournament.

Prokhorova and the Aggies return to action on Monday, September 15, when they participate in the Elon Invitational at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, NC, on Monday and Tuesday.
