Teammates Prokhorova, Marina Are Competing For PGA Works Title

The Aggies lead the tournament by 15 strokes heading into the final day.

KHOLER, Wis. – The North Carolina A&T women's golf team widened its lead at the 2025 PGA Works Championship on Tuesday, shooting a second -round 7-over 295 on the par 72, 5,782-yard historic Whistling Straits – Straits golf course.

The Aggies lead the tournament by 15 strokes over the Howard University Bison. A&T has a two-round score of 21-over 597 to lead. The Bison, tied with the Aggies after shooting a first-round 14-over 302, shot a second-round 22-over 310 to post a 36-over 613 for the tournament.

Individually, the Aggies looked poised to take medalist honors. Junior Ekaterina Prokhorova still leads the tournament after shooting 73 on Tuesday. Coupled with her 2-under 71 on Monday, Prokhorova entered the clubhouse as the leader with a two-round score of even-par 144. Junior teammate Polina Marina made a big charge up the leaderboard and is now in second place behind Prokhorova.

Marina shot 68 on Tuesday, moving 12 spots up the leaderboard. She trails Prokhorova by one shot with a two-round score of 1-over 145. Junior Tori Mouton is also in the top 5 entering the final round on Wednesday. Mouton is in a five-way tie for fifth place after shooting 77 during the second round. She stands at 8-over 152.

Prokhorova started her round with two pars before posting a birdie on the 111-yard par 3, third. She bogeyed two holes on the front nine to finish the front with a 37. However, her second round started with a blaze. She birdied the first three holes on the back, starting with the 320-yard par 4, 10th. She also birdied the 479-yard par 5, 11th before carding a two on the 99-yard par 3 12th.

Three straight pars followed Prokhorova's birdie streak, and three consecutive bogeys followed her par streak to end her round with a 36 on the back nine. Marina also birdied No. 3 early in her second round before five straight par puts kept her at 1-under for the round. She moved to 2-under by birdieing the 347-yard par 4, ninth.

Marina finished her front nine with a 34 before starting her back nine with birdie to move to 2-under on the day. Marina nearly aced the par 3 12th hole after her tee shot came within two feet of the hole. She made the birdie put to move to 4-under, however. Marina parred the final six holes of the back nine to finish with another 34.

Mouton had a tough front nine, posting two double bogeys and two bogeys mixed in with a birdie on the 354-yard par 4, fourth. After shooting 42 on the front nine, Mouton got rolling on the back nine, starting with a birdie on the par 3, 12th. She bogeyed the 14th before posting another birdie on the 498-yard par 5, 16th to move to 5-over for the round. She ended her day with a par on 18 to finish the back nine with a 35.

Junior Ana Rodriguez shot 77 on Tuesday and is in a three-way tie for 16th with a 12-over 156. She had two birdies during the second round. Sophomore Sofia Fernando shot a second-round 79 and stands at 18-over 152 for the tournament.

Prokhorova is scheduled to tee off at 1:25 p.m. EST while Marina will get started at 1:15 p.m.
