A&T Enters Final Day of CAA After Strong Second Round

The Aggies are in ninth place.

SOUTHPORT, NC – North Carolina A&T concluded its second day competing at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Golf Championships at the par 72, 5995-yard Reserve Club at St. James golf course on Saturday.

The Aggies shot a second-round 327 and remained in ninth place after the second day. The Aggies have a two-round score of 667. They trail tournament leaders UNC Wilmington and the College of Charleston. Both teams are at 16-over 592, seven shots ahead of third-place Campbell (599), and 10 shots ahead of fourth-place Delaware.

Juniors Polina Marina and Ekaterina Prokhorova led the Aggies by shooting second-round 80s. Marina will enter Sunday's play in 30th place after carding one birdie on Saturday. It came on the 290-yard par 4 11th after she opened the round on the par 4 10th with a bogey. Marina had a pretty steady day before she reached the par 5 seventh.

In addition to her bogey on 10, she also bogeyed No. 15 and had a double bogey on the par 5 fifth, finishing the back nine with a 39. Marina had four pars and two bogeys on the front nine before reaching the seventh, where she had an unfortunate eight on the par 5 hole taking her to 8-over the round. She ended the second round with two straight pars.

Marina enters Sunday's play, having shot a 162. Prokhorova is also in the top 30 at the CAA championships. She shot 80 on Saturday, with her opening four holes being a bogey on No. 10, a double on 11, and a bogey on 12 before birdieing the par 3, 128-yard 13th to come away 3-over. Three straight pars and two additional bogeys left Prokhorova with a 41 on the back nine.

Prokhorova had four bogeys and a birdie on the 481-yard par 5 seventh on the front nine. She shot 83 on Friday to shoot 163 over the first two rounds.

After shooting 80 on Friday junior Ana Rodriguez shot 87 on Saturday and is at 187 for the tournament. Junior Tori Mouton fired off two birdies on Saturday to finish with an 82. She birdied the first hole she played, the 362-yard par 4 10th. She had two double bogeys and a triple on the back nine before birdieing the 363-yard par 4 first.

Sophomore Sofia Fernando also competed for the Aggies on Saturday, shooting an 85. The final round begins Sunday morning at 8:30.
