NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES (9-14, 4-5 BIG SOUTH): The Aggies have lost four straight games following a 64-54 loss at Winthrop on Thursday. It is the A&T's longest losing streak under head coach Will Jones.Â
A&T has struggled to shoot the ball lately. The Aggies are 9-for-47 (.191) from 3-point range over the last two games. Demetric Horton, who has been the most consistent scorer since the beginning of conference play, went 4-for-13 on Thursday and mustered 10 points.Â
The Aggies will try to get back on track offensively. On Thursday, they tied a season-low for field goals made with 19. A&T will also try to turn it around defensively. The Aggies have lost five out of six. In those five losses, opponents are shooting 49.4 percent.Â
Coach Jones is now in his third season overall and second full season after initially taking over on an interim basis on December 24, 2019. In that same year, Jones earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) coach of the year honors. He has a 34-29 (.548) record as the Aggies head coach.Â
GARDNER-WEBB (12-10, 6-3 BIG SOUTH):Â The Bulldogs have won their last three games, most recently a 65-57 win over High Point Wednesday. In the second half, Gardner-Webb University (GWU) outscored the Panthers 38-19 in a come-from-behind victory.Â
GWU is 8-2 at home this year, and their average margin of victory is 23.9 points. The Bulldogs are led offensively by sophomore guard D'Maurian Williams, who is seventh in the Big South at 14.1 points per game. However, he did struggle in the last game, shooting just 2-for-13 from the field with eight points.Â
In conference play, Gardner-Webb holds their opponents to 61.2 points per game. They also have a plus-5.5 scoring margin, the third-best in the league.Â
Head coach Tim Craft is in his ninth season at GWU. He served as an assistant at GWU from 2004-07, then had brief stints at Auburn (2008-10) and East Carolina (2010-13) before returning to the Bulldogs in 2013. He is 150-131 (.534) as the Bulldogs head coach and won he won the Big South tournament in 2019. The Bulldogs went 23-12 and earned an NCAA tournament berth. Â
