Men's Tennis Falls to Davidson

Three matches went to a third set.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The North Carolina A&T men's tennis team fell to the Davidson Wildcats, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. 

The Aggies (0-3) took the Wildcats (2-4) down to the wire in singles play, with three matches having to go to a third set. 

On the No. 2 singles court, junior Vasil Ivanov swept the first set against Sam Kavarana, 6-0, before dropping the second set, 6-3. Kavarana secured the point in the third set, 10-2. 

At No. 5 singles, sophomore Nolan Martino won the first set, 6-2, against Ogden Timpson. He dropped the second set, 6-2, before surrendering the point, 10-2, in the third set.

  Freshman Mike Ogundele won the first set against Jerry Wang, 7-5, on the No. 6 singles court, but slipped in the second set, 6-0 and lost the third set, 10-4. 

Ivanov paired with fifth-year senior Nicolas Arduh on the No. 1 doubles court against Maxwell Kachkarov and Alejandro Solares but fell 6-4. The Aggies lost the other two doubles matches, 6-3, and Davidson took the point. 

A&T will be back in action Sunday, Feb. 21, for their home opener against College of Charleston at noon.
