RADFORD, Va. – The North Carolina A&T men's tennis team fell to Radford, 5-2, Saturday evening inside the Radford Tennis Complex. Radford (3-1) swept the doubles matches to earn the point against N.C. A&T (0-6).
In singles action, N.C. A&T sophomore
Vasil Ivanov was able to defeat Yevhen Sirous 6-1, 7-5 on the No. 2 court while senior
Jorge Goenaga beat Rodrigo Magalhaes 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to earn the Aggies two points.
Senior
Nicolas Arduh fell to Demi Taramonlis 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles action. On the No. 4 court,
Esteban Lopez battled Andres Silva but was defeated, 7-6, 6-4 and
Marko Puric stumbled against Konstantinos Raptis 6-0, 6-3.
Sophomore standout
Nolan Martino faced off against Matko Varga at No. 6 singles play. Varga swiped the first set 6-2, but Martino responded by taking the second set, 6-2. The third set came down to the final point, but Varga edged out the win, 7-6.
Next up, the Aggies will take on King University tomorrow, Feb. 23 at 12 p.m. in Bristol, Tenn.
