DAVIDSON, N.C. – The North Carolina A&T men's tennis team dropped a road contest against Davidson, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Knobloch Tennis Center in Davidson, N.C.
The Aggies (0-5) did earn a win at No. 4 singles as freshman
Esteban Lopez defeated Douglas Macintosh. Lopez fell in the first set, 6-3, but recovered quickly and won the next two sets 7-6, 6-4 to secure the lone point for the Aggies.
Senior Nicholas Arduh was defeated in No. 1 singles at the hands of Axel Fries, 6-3, 6-3. In No. 2 singles, sophomore
Vasil Ivanov swiped a set from Tommy Mason, 6-3, but dropped the point after Mason won the other two sets, 6-1, 6-4. Senior
Jorge Goenaga also took a set at No. 3 singles after winning 6-3. He fell to Sam Kavarana, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman
Marko Puric went down in straight sets against Brooks Green, 6-1, 6-4 and sophomore
Nolan Martino dropped the No. 6 singles point against Camden Mazzoni, 7-5, 6-1.
In doubles action, Ivanov and Arduh teamed up on the No. 1 court to defeat Matthew Rose and Yash Parikh, 6-2, but the Aggies dropped the other two doubles matches and the Wildcats (6-2) claimed the point.
The Aggies will travel to Radford for a Friday afternoon match on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. in Radford, Va.
