Men's Basketball Faces Future Big South Opponent

N.C. A&T looks for its second straight win.

AGGIES OVERVIEW: North Carolina A&T is coming off a trip to the University of Illinois' multi-team event. The Aggies went 1-2, but are fresh off a win against Chicago State, 74-44. The Aggies have two preseason all-conference players in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) preseason player of the year Kameron Langley and third-team selection Tyler Maye. Langley led the nation in total assists (247), assists per game (8.0) and triple-doubles (2) last season. Langley also had his first double-figure assist game of the season against Chicago State with 11 dimes and no turnovers. Maye had a team-high 18 points and five steals against CSU last year. Head coach Will Jones is in his first full season after serving in an interim capacity part of last year and has an overall record of 15-7 (.681). 
 
BUCCANEERS OVERVIEW: The Buccaneers are coming off a 60-50 defeat at the hands of Eastern Kentucky. Reigning Big South defensive player of the year and 2020-21 preseason player of the year Phlandrous Fleming returns for the Bucs this season. He is just the second player in program history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists, 100 steals and 50 blocks in his career. Fleming, however, hasn't played yet this season due to an injury. Freshman guard Ja'Quavian Florence is averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game this season. Head coach Barclay Radebaugh is in his 16th season at CSU and has an overall record of 177-266 (.399), including 122-74 (.622) at home.

  • In their first meeting all-time, the Aggies beat the Buccaneers, 63-49, on Nov. 8, 2019. 
  • N.C. A&T was 4-12 on the road last year. 
  • CSU is 11-7 on Dec. 1 all-time, including 6-4 at home. 
  • The Bucs are riding a four-game home-opening win streak.
  • N.C. A&T CSU will be conference foes next season when the Aggies join the Big South.
