Aggies Make Return Visit to VCU

C'coriea Foy had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in the Aggies win over Clemson.

Aggies Overview:  North Carolina A&T women's basketball held on to a 28-point lead to defeat Clemson of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), 82-74. It was the Aggies second win all-time over the Tigers who play in a major conference. Junior guard Deja Winters finished with a season-high 27 points and senior guard C'coriea Foy almost recorded a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. 

Senior center Alexus Lessears notched her 13th career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. 
Head coach Tarrell Robinson returns to VCU where he served as the associate head coach for three seasons. The Aggies visited VCU last season and came away with a 54-48. Foy finished with 12 points as the Aggies entered the fourth quarter of that game trailing just 35-34. 

Winters leads the Aggies by ranking sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in scoring. Foy ranks 18th in the league in scoring, while senior center Alexus Lessears ranks 20th. Senior guard Cinia McCray ranks 22nd at 9.3 points per game.

Lessears ranks tied for in the MEAC in rebounding and senior forward Le'on Hill ranks 10th. Lessears also ranks fifth in the conference in shooting at 49.4 percent. Winters ranks 10th by shooting 44.8 percent. 

THE VCU RAMS: VCU has lost four of the last five games but defeated UC Riverside 67-51 the last time out to improve to 4-2 at home. The Rams are led by Tera Reed with 12.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Danielle Hammond averages 10.3 points and 4.1 rebounds and Sydnei Archie leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game.

Rankings: The Aggies rank second and 14th in the nation in turnovers forced (22.73). They rank first in the conference and 80thnationally in field goal percentage defense at 36.8 percent. 
N.C. A&T also ranks second in the conference and 41st in the nation in total blocks (53). The Aggies block 4.8 shots per game good enough for second in the MEAC and 34th in the country. 

Career Watch: Foy has 935 career points and needs 65 points to become the 14th player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a career. 
Lessears has 752 career rebounds and needs 23 rebounds to move into fourth place held by Helena Creamer (1987-91) with 774 rebounds.

Lessears recorded four blocks against Morehead State to become the fifth player to record 100-plus blocks in her career. She   The has 104 blocks and needs 12 blocks to move into fourth place held by Lamona Smalley (2006-10) with 115 blocks.

Hill has 86 career blocks, which ranks ninth place in school history. She needs six blocks to move into eighth place held by Nikia Gorham (2009-13) with 91 blocks.
