GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T track and field added another weekly honor on Tuesday when the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) released its latest round of weekly superlatives.
The CAA named
Jordan Ware men's track athlete of the week, marking the second straight week an Aggie has won the honor, with sophomore
Elijah Thomas receiving it last week for his performance in the 800 meters. This recognition is the Aggies' fourth weekly honor of the young season, joining earlier awards for
Makenna Urbanek as CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week and
Xavier Partee as CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Ware won his honor this week after a strong performance at North Carolina State University's Raleigh Relays over the weekend at Paul Derr Track Facility. Ware won the men's 200m on Saturday, leading four Aggies in the event's top 20. Ware clocked a 20.62 to win the event, making him the No. 1 200m runner in the CAA, and the No. 9 200m sprinter in the country. Ware also competed in the men's 4x100-meter relay. He joined junior
Nakhi Benjamin, junior
Lassale Hewlett, and sophomore Correy McManus, Jr. to place third in 40.27, ranking the foursome second in the CAA.
Ware and the Aggies return to action this weekend when some of the team competes at High Point University's VertKlasse Meeting, April 2-3 at Vert Stadium. Other members will head to Gainesville, Fla., for the University of Florida's Florida Relays, April 3-4 at James G. Pressly Stadium.
