GREENSBORO – Senior high jumper
Spirit Morgan ended her collegiate career with three straight conference field athlete of the year awards.
The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) released its 2026 women's outdoor postseason superlatives on Thursday, with Morgan deemed the conference's best women's field athlete for the second straight year. Morgan earned her second straight CAA Field Athlete of the Year Award despite injuries throughout the season.
Morgan could not defend her outdoor CAA title in the high jump because of injury, but her 6-foot, ½-inch jump at LSU's Alumni Gold earned her first place and all but assured her spot in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round. Morgan had the second-best East Prelim qualifying jump at the University of Kentucky's Outdoor Track and Field Complex in Lexington, Ky., with a mark of 5 feet, 11 ½ inches.
At the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Morgan finished 13th nationally, jumping 5 feet, 10 ½ inches. It marked the second straight season she left Eugene with second-team All-American honors from the USTFCCA.
The CAA's acknowledgment of Morgan's 2026 outdoor accomplishments tops a marvelous A&T career for the University of Cincinnati transfer. She has now won the last three CAA field athlete of the year awards, including co-Field Athlete of the Year during the indoor season and last year's field athlete of the year honor.
Additionally, Morgan owns six of the seven best high jumps in the history of the A&T women's outdoor program, including the school record 6 feet, ¾ inches measured at the 2025 CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She owns five of the top six indoor jumps in program history, including her 6-foot, 1 ¼ inches jump at the 2026 CAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
