GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T men's and women's indoor track and field did not get a chance to compete at Texas Tech two weeks ago because of inclement weather. They got ahead of the inclement weather last week to participate in the 2026 Brant Tolsma Invite hosted by Liberty University, and they came away with some excellent performances.
Their appearance there also resulted in two more Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly honors. Graduate
Spirit Morgan earned CAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week, and junior sprinter
Jordan Ware secured CAA Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Both Aggies earned their first-ever CAA indoor weekly honor. Morgan won field athlete of the week last spring from the CAA. Morgan made her indoor season debut last Friday at Liberty and made an impact.
Morgan, a 2025 outdoor All-American in the women's high jump, jumped 5 feet, 10 ¾ inches to win the women's high jump. It marked her best indoor jump since leaping 5 feet, 11 ½ inches when she was a member of the University of Cincinnati track and field program on February 11, 2023.
Morgan also broke the women's indoor track and field program record, surpassing Nakita Gray's 5-foot, 10 ½-inch mark set on February 1, 2014, at the Penn State Invitational. Morgan ranks third in the CAA behind Northeastern's Camryn Cole (6-feet) and Monmouth's Cameron Upchurch (5 feet, 11 ¼ inches).
Meanwhile, Ware won the men's 200 meters at Liberty by posting a 21.15. It moved him into second in the CAA in the 200m behind teammate
Nakhi Benjamin, who ran a 20.08 at the Mondo College Invite at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC, on January 17. The Aggies have four of the top five times in the CAA, with
Jalen Booth-Mitchell (21.26) in third and
Isaiah Taylor (21.39) in fifth.
Nationally, Benjamin ranks 10th in the men's 200m. The Aggies return to action this weekend for the University of South Carolina's Carolina Classic in Columbia, SC, February 6-7.
