GREENSBORO – Junior
Paris Locke made North Carolina A&T women's basketball history on Friday night in a game that turned cooky, crazy, and unfathomable.
As a result, the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) named Locke co-Player of the Week on Monday. It is Locke's first weekly honor since winning CAA Rookie of the Week on February 19, 2024. Locke recovered from a five-point outing in a loss to Hofstra at A&T's Corbett Sports Center on Sunday to record the first-ever triple-double in women's basketball history at A&T.
Locke posted 22 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in A&T's 89-86 triple overtime win over the Northeastern Huskies at Corbett on Friday. In 51 minutes of playing time, Locke did not commit a turnover. However, the 51 minutes were not the reason she secured the historic milestone. She achieved the triple-double in regulation.
"Paris has been the most versatile player all year in the CAA," said A&T head women's basketball coach
Tarrell Robinson. "She plays 1-4 for us and is productive in all four positions. I'm glad she's getting recognition for her talents that were on display this past Friday."
Locke is averaging 11.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. She ranks fourth in the league in assists and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4). It was Locke's assist to fifth-year center
Chaniya Clark that led to Clark's game-winning 3-pointer in triple overtime. Locke and the Aggies face Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ, on Thursday. The tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Ocean First Bank Center.
