CLEMSON, SC/WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The North Carolina A&T men's and women's track and field teams spread themselves out throughout the Carolinas on Saturday, with some completing the second day of the prestigious Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson University at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. The others participated in the ASICS Sound Invite held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC.

At the Tiger Paw, graduate Spirit Morgan stood out again for the Aggies in the women's high jump. Morgan's three-week run has been impressive, and it continued Saturday. Morgan jumped 5 feet, 11 ¾ inches to win the women's high jump invite, meaning she competed among the best in the country. Last week, Morgan became the first female Aggie to clear 6 feet in program history. Her 6-foot jump has her ranked 18th nationally and No. 1 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).

On Saturday, Morgan out-jumped Miracle Ailes from the University of Alabama.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team also made a major statement on Saturday. The team of sophomore Elijiah Thomas, junior Xzaviah Taylor, junior Isaiah Taylor, and senior Dyimond Walker finished eighth overall and second in their heat with a time of 3:05.73. They helped the Aggies move into the No. 1 ranking in the CAA, ahead of the Hampton Pirates. It is the 25th-best time nationally.

Walker also had a good showing in the men's 800 meters. Walker ran a personal-best 1:50.25 to finish fifth overall and No. 1 in his heat. He is second in the conference in the 800m behind Northeastern's Brady Danyluk (1:49.82).

Junior men's high jumper Yule Pieters continued to improve his stronghold on the top CAA ranking. For the third straight meet, Pieters posted a personal best in the men's high jump. On Saturday, Pieters jumped 6 feet, 10 ¾ inches to break another personal record. He had the ninth-best jump at Clemson, as he remains the top men's high jumper in the conference.

In Winston-Salem, the Aggies had four first-place finishes as they prepared their entire team for next week's CAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston. On the women's side, freshman Eden Fuller won the women's 400m with a personal record of 57.55. She took two seconds off her time after running 59.57 at Liberty University's Brant Tolsma Invitational on January 31.

Freshman Rachel Tolbert won the women's 800m by running a personal-best 2:17.78. She shaved off approximately 11 seconds from her previous best time recorded at the Winston-Salem College Kick-off in December. Freshman Carleigh McCullough had the other victory on the female side by posting a personal record. She completed the women's 200m in 25.23. Junior Kaleb Conway came away with a win for the men. He won the 800m in 1:56.69.

The men's and women's teams will compete for conference titles in Boston on Sunday and Monday at the CAA indoor championships. The men are trying to defend their title, while the women are after their first conference indoor title since winning the Big South Conference in 2022.
