  • MATCH UP N.C. A&T Aggies (7-9, 2-3 CAA) at Elon (7-10, 2-3 CAA) N.C. A&T Aggies at Charleston (14-3, 6-0 CAA as of Friday))
LOCATION Elon, NC/Schar Center (5,100); Charleston, SC/ TD Arena (5,100)
    DATE/TIME Friday, January 23, 2026/7 p.m. /Sunday, January 25, 2026/1 p.m.
  • North Carolina A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson passed legendary A&T men's basketball coach Don Corbett in basketball wins at A&T after winning his 255th ballgame on Sunday, following the Aggies 70-57 win at Corbett Sports Center over the Hampton Pirates.
  • The win makes Robinson the all-time leader in Division I basketball wins – men or women – at A&T. He still trails Cal Irvin in all-time A&T wins. Irvin won 348 games at A&T from 1954-72, capturing five CIAA titles and the first MEAC title for a college basketball team. Corbett won 254 games from 1979-93, earning seven straight MEAC titles from 1982-88.
  • The Aggies are coming off one of their most impressive games against a Division I opponent this season by beating the Pirates. A&T held the Pirates to 33.3 percent shooting. That was their best defensive showing against a D1 program since holding the NCCU Eagles to 30.4 percent shooting on December 2.
  • A&T's plus-19 rebounding margin over the Pirates was a season-best. It was also their best performance since out-rebounding the Pirates by 22 on January 31, 2025.
  • Plus, the Aggies' veteran trio of junior Paris Locke, fifth-year senior Chaniya Clark, and six-year graduate guard D'Mya Tucker combined to score 49 of A&T's 70 points, with Clark tying a career-high with 20 points.
  • As good as the Aggies are at home in CAA play, they have performed just as well on the road. A&T is 21-8 in road games since joining the CAA during the 2022-23 season. Last season, their only two road losses were by a total of six points.
  • A&T has two tough road games over the weekend, starting with Elon on Friday and College of Charleston on Sunday.
  • A&T continues to showcase its depth. The Aggies averaged 23.7 bench points per game, which ranks second in the conference behind Elon (29.9). The Aggies received 20 points off the bench on Sunday.
  • The Aggies went into the conference season with a losing record. It will mark the seventh time in head coach Tarrell Robinson's 14-year career at A&T. Despite that, the Aggies have had only two losing seasons under Robinson. They have won five regular-season championships, made eight postseason appearances, compiled six 20-win seasons, and won three conference tournaments.
  • Three freshmen scored in double figures in the 99-49 win over Newberry: Anaya Karriem (21 points), Ja'naya Meyers (10), and Jamyia Lindsey (10).
  • It marked the first time in the 14-year Tarrell Robinson era that three freshmen scored in double figures in a single game. It marked the first time three freshmen have scored in double figures at A&T since Aisha Mosley (22), Sabre Proctor (16), and Tracy King (14) all scored in double figures in an 81-56 win over Winthrop on November 14, 2010, in Rock Hill, SC.
  • Karriem's 21 points against Newberry are the most by a freshman under Robinson and the most by an Aggies freshman since Tiffanie Adair's 27 in a 71-68 loss to S.C. State on February 11, 2012.
  • D'Mya Tucker became the 16th Aggie to score 1,000 career points, reaching the milestone with 21 at Northeastern on January 9.
  • Clark is closing in on 1,000 career points. With 53 more points and six more rebounds, she will become just the third player in program history to reach 1,000 points and 700 rebounds, joining Malveata Johnson (1997-01) and Helena Creamer (1987-91).
  • Head coach Tarrell Robinson is in his 14th season with A&T. He is the program's all-time winningest coach with 255 wins. He won the 2024-25 CAA Coach of the Year Award last season.
SCOUTING ELON
  • Elon is coming off an 87-64 loss to Charleston in Charleston, SC, on Sunday. Elon shot 38.6 percent against the Cougars and was led by Laila Anderson, who came off the bench to score 21 points.
  • The Phoenix has lost two out of its last three after a loss at Campbell two weeks ago. The Phoenix defeated UNC Wilmington a week ago, 72-62. Ashanti Fox came off the bench to score 17 points.
  • Elon has the best scoring bench in the conference. The Phoenix's bench averages 29.9 points per game. That is good enough for ninth in the nation.
  • Elon is led by LaNae' Corbett, who averages 12.3 points per game and leads the CAA in field goal percentage (.509). On January 4, she shot 14-for-16 to score 28 points in an 84-75 win over Hampton.
  • Elon has been good at turning teams over this season. The Phoenix leads the conference in turnovers forced (20.6) per game. They are second in the CAA in steals per game (9.8).
  • Charlotte Smith is in her 15th season with the Phoenix program. The Phoenix has been in the CAA since 2014.
  • In the Phoenix's first four years in the league under Smith, Elon made two WNIT appearances and two NCAA appearances. She is 178-165 (.519) going into tonight's game.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON
  • The headline for Charleston is that the Cougars return the CAA Player of the Year in CAA Preseason Player of the Year Taryn Barbot.
  • She has not disappointed. Barbot comes into the weekend second in the conference in scoring at 19.9 points per game.
  • Ahead of Friday's game, Barbot leads the league in assists (7.0 per game, 119 total), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.64), field goals (118), free throw percentage (.889), points (338), 3-point percentage (.387), and 3-pointers made (46, 2.71 per game).
  • Barbot has scored 25+ points four times and 30+ points twice this season, including 29 on 10-for-17 shooting in Charleston's win over Northeastern on January 4.
  • Barbot is not the only weapon the Cougars possessed. Grace Ezebilo leads the conference in total rebounds (200), rebounds per game (11.8), offensive rebounds per game (4.1), and defensive rebounds per game (7.6).
  • Taylor Barbot averages 12.3 points, while Tyja Beans adds 11.4 per game after transferring from Western Carolina.
  • Robin Harmony leads the Cougars in her seventh season at the college. She is 109-78 (.583) at Charleston and 356-195 (.646) in 19 seasons as a head coach, with previous stops at Lamar and St. Thomas.
SERIES
  • Elon leads the all-time series against A&T, 11-10. A&T has won three out of the last four, but Elon won the last matchup 70-69 at Elon.
  • The Phoenix is 6-2 against the Aggies in Elon, NC. The two teams have split their last 10 meetings, with each team winning five games.
  • The Aggies are 4-2 against the Phoenix since joining the CAA before the 2022-23 season.
  • The Aggies will meet the Cougars for the sixth time. All five previous meetings have been conference matchups in the CAA, with the Aggies leading 3-2.
  • A&T won the last matchup 74-51 in Greensboro on its way to the 2024-25 CAA regular-season title.
