GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T had another good weekend on the track and field and another week of numerous weekly superlatives from the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).

After the North Carolina A&T men's and women's track and field teams swept all four awards last week, the A&T men secured two weekly awards, and the women added another.

Junior Jason Holmes and senior Brayden Hodgest were the winners on the men's, collecting men's track athlete of the week and men's field athlete of the week, respectively. Meanwhile, graduate Julieth Nwosu collected her second straight field athlete of the week accolade.

The Aggies competed at North Carolina State University's (NCSU) Raleigh Relays at Paul Derr Track, Thursday-Saturday.

Holmes finished second in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday behind 2022 North American Central American and Caribbean Championships (NACACC) silver medalist Jamal Britt. Holmes finished in 13.57 to lead the CAA and the NCAA East Region. He also ranks sixth nationally.

In addition, he joined his 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores Jordan Ware, Xzaviah Taylor and Isaiah Taylor to win at Raleigh Relays with a time of 39.24. That time ranks No. 1 in the conference, No. 4 in the East, and seventh nationally.

Hodgest broke the program record in the men's shot put on Thursday by finishing second with a toss of 58 feet, 5 ¾ inches. Brayden broke the record of teammate Carlos Alexander who held the previous-best mark at 58 feet, ¼ inches. Hodgest's throw at Raleigh Relays ranks him No. 1 in the CAA ahead of Alexander.

It also ranks him 21st in the NCAA East Region and 48th nationally. In addition, he placed 17th in the men's discus over the weekend at 160 feet, 2 inches.

Nwosu placed second in the women's shot put on Thursday, with her best throw landing at 53 feet, 10 ½ inches. Julieth's throw places her No. 1 in the CAA and ninth in the NCAA East Region. The throw also stands as the 16th-best nationwide this season. Nwosu also finished 24th in the discus at 141 feet, 10 inches.
