LAKEWOOD, NJ – North Carolina A&T senior women's cross country runner Deavion Deleon made history on Friday.
Deleon finished sixth at the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Monmouth University at Ocean County Park. By finishing in the top 15 at the CAA cross country championships, Deleon becomes the first Aggie cross country runner – men or women – to earn All-CAA accolades.
Her 21:14.90 finish in the 6k event is not only a personal record for the University of Nebraska transfer but also a program record in a 6k race. The highest CAA finish for the Aggies before Friday came in 2023 when Fajr Kelly finished 49th.
It was the highest individual finish for an Aggie since G'Jasmyne Butler ran a 5k 18:46.5 to finish fifth at the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Cross Country Championships.
"Deavion put herself in position to compete from the gun," said Quamel Prince, A&T's cross country/distance runners coach. "She was able to compete from start to finish and finished very well with a 45-second personal best and school record."
The women finished in 11th place with an average time of 24:41.00. Elon won the title for the sixth time in seven years. The Phoenix had an average time of 20:46.00, followed by William & Mary (21:18.70) and Northeastern (21:45.20) in the top 3.
