EAST GREENSBORO – Ahead of North Carolina A&T's first time competing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Aggies added one more CAA weekly honor, and it belongs to graduate transfer Jada Griffin. The CAA named Griffin CAA women's track athlete of the week after her performances at the Charlotte Invitational over the weekend. 

It marks Griffin's second weekly honor during the outdoor season. With the weekly award she secured during the indoor season, Griffin has claimed three weekly track honors since transferring to A&T from North Carolina State University (NCSU). In addition, Griffin was named CAA women's indoor track athlete of the year. 

Over the weekend, Griffin ran her season-best time in the 200 meters at the Charlotte Invitational and helped the North Carolina A&T 4x400m relay team to its second straight first-place finish. Griffin posted a time of 23.45 in the 200m to take second in the competition. The time is second in the CAA this season, while it ranks top 50 in the NCAA East Region and in the top 100 in the NCAA. In addition, Griffin helped the A&T 4x400m relay team run its second-best time this season, winning the event in 3:39.58

Griffin joins teammate and hurdler Paula Salmon as a two-time winner of the CAA's women's track athlete of the year accolade. Griffin won her first honor of the outdoor season on April 4. Salmon won her honors on March 28 and April 25. Reheem Hayles has won athlete of the week twice on the men's side. 

The Aggies begin competing in the 2023 CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 5, at William & Mary's Zable Stadium.
