NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES STORYLINES
- A&T leads the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) by one game over Drexel, Stony Brook and Towson.
- The Aggies come into today's game the 25th-ranked team in mid-major basketball, according to collegeinsider.com. The Aggies have entered the poll three other times, the last coming in 2018.
- Jazmin Harris has scored in double figures in 10 straight games. The last time she failed to score double figures came on Dec. 15 at Auburn. She has recorded four double-doubles in her previous 10 games, including starting CAA play with three consecutive double-doubles.
- Harris has scored 1,251 career points and grabbed 729 rebounds in her collegiate career in 122 games. Over the past two seasons, more than half of those points, 640, have come in an A&T uniform. She has 326 rebounds as an Aggie. Harris spent three seasons as a member of the Charlotte 49ers.
- Harris ranks in the top-50 in two categories nationally, ranking 39th in total blocks (33) and 42nd in blocks per game (1.7). In addition, she leads the CAA in field goal percentage (.520) and ranks third in rebounding (6.1) and third in blocks.
- Maleia Bracone's 29 points at Hampton last Sunday are the most scored by an Aggie this season. They were the most points by an Aggie since C'coriea Foy scored 31 against St. Andrews on Jan. 21, 2018. They are the most points an Aggie has scored against a Division I opponent since JaQuayla Berry had 29 against William & Mary on Dec. 21, 2012.
- Bracone was 10-for-15 (.667) from the floor, including 7-for-10 from 3-point range. Bracone's seven threes are tied for the most in a CAA contest this season.
- D'Mya Tucker has scored in double figures in six straight games. She has three double-doubles this season.
- A&T ranks in the top-50 nationally in four categories, including 24th in offensive rebounds (14.9), 35th in rebounds per game (41.74), 36th in field goal percentage defense (.365), and 34th in turnovers forced per game (19.89).
- A&T beat longtime rival Hampton, 75-70, in overtime at Hampton last Sunday. Harris made two free throws to open OT before A&T guard Jordyn Dorsey converted an and-one to give the Aggies a 72-67 lead with 2:39 remaining.
- After a Hampton free throw, A&T increased its lead to 74-68 after a tip-in by Nyah Willis with 1:33 left. Hampton scored its only basket of the overtime on a layup from Dlayla Chakolis to cut A&T's lead to 74-70. But the Pirates missed their final two shots of the game and went 1-for-9 shooting in OT.
- The Aggies have a 597-578 record and need three wins for 600 in program history.
- Head coach Tarrell Robinson is in his 11th season and is the program's all-time winningest coach with 202 wins. He set the record against South Carolina State after a 68-49 victory in Orangeburg, S.C., for his 192nd win.
- Robinson has a 202-114 overall record and has made three NCAA tournament appearances, three postseason WNIT appearances, and has won three conference tournament championships and four regular-season conference championships.
- A&T's 67-63 overtime win against Northeastern on Jan. 13 gave Robinson his 200th career win joining men's basketball coaches Cal Irvin and Don Corbett as the only basketball coaches in school history to reach that milestone. Irvin won 308 games and multiple championships at A&T. Corbett won 254 games and numerous titles at A&T.
- In addition, Robinson has a 104-28 record in Corbett Sports Center. The Aggies 89-38 win against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Nov. 15 gave Robinson his 100th win at Corbett Sports Center.
SCOUTING THE COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON COUGARS
- Charleston has lost the last two games by an average of 5.0 points, with losses to William & Mary in overtime and at Stony Brook.
- In the Cougars, 80-76 loss to Stony Brook on Thursday, they went into the fourth quarter leading by one. But they shot only 3-for-15 from the floor in the fourth quarter (.200) to lose the close ballgame. Meanwhile, the Seawolves shot 55.6 percent from the floor.
- Jaila Roberts led the Cougars with 23 points and five rebounds. Jada Logan had 22 points and eight rebounds on 8-for-17 shooting from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Anika McGarity made five 3-pointers on her way to 15 points.
- Logan leads the team in points per game (17.6) and is tied for the team lead in rebounds per game (7.3). McGarity (11.6) and Jazmyn Stone (10.3) also average double figures.
- Logan is averaging 21.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists in her last five games. She had a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Berry on Dec. 13.
- Charleston is the best offensive-rebounding team in the league, averaging 15.3 offensive boards per game. The Cougars rank 14th nationally in the category. They also like to shoot the three, averaging 23.2 attempts per game.
- Robin Harmony is in her fourth season leading Charleston with a 45-49 record and has an overall 291-164 record in 16 seasons.
- She spent six seasons at NAIA school St. Thomas, leading the team to three postseason appearances. In her six seasons at Lamar, she went to the postseason WNIT three times and to the Women's Basketball Invitational once.
The Series
- A&T won the only meeting between the two schools earlier this season with a 66-58 win at Charleston on New Year's Day.
- Harris recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds on 8-for-11 shooting. Bracone added 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.
- McGarity led the Cougars with 18 points, and Alexis Andrews recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
