Eugene, Ore. – There are 13 North Carolina A&T Aggies competing at the 2022 Toyota USA Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
Chris Belcher: Belcher started the USATF championships by qualifying for the Nike men's 100m semifinals by running a 10.19 in the first round. Belcher finished fourth in his heat. He placed 14th in the semifinal on Friday in 10.15, failing to qualify for the final. Belcher runs professionally for Adidas. Belcher was a three-time first-team All-American at A&T, finishing third nationally in the 100m and 4x100 in 2017.
Symone Darius: Darius qualified for the Nike women's 100m semifinals by running an 11.17, finishing fifth in her heat on Thursday. She finished 13th overall. She finished 16th on Friday, failing to qualify for the final with a time of 11.20. Darius will compete in the Xfinity women's 200m at 3:10 p.m. EST on Saturday. After transferring to A&T from Alabama, Darius qualified for the NCAA indoor championships and the NCAA outdoor championships one time apiece. She earned first-team All-American honors in 2021 as the Aggies 4x100 team finished third nationally.
Michael Dickson: Dickson runs in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at 3:35 p.m. eastern standard time. Dickson ran for the Aggies from 2015-19. Dickson was a two-time second-team All-American in indoors and one-time second-team All-American during outdoor track and field. In addition, he earned three first-team All-American honors during the outdoor season.
Javonte' Harding: Harding competed in the Nike men's 100m on Thursday, where he ran 10.32 to finish 18th overall and sixth in his heat as he failed to qualify. He will compete in the Nike men's 200m on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. EST. Harding's first two seasons at A&T have been incredible. He won the 200m indoor national title in 2022 and has earned two first-team All-American indoor honors. In addition, he has three first-team All-American honors during the outdoor season as he heads into his junior season.
Christian Harrison: Harrison participated in A&T track and field from 2011-14 before transferring to the University of Georgia. He qualified for the NCAA East Prelim in 2013 in the 800m. On Thursday, he finished 23rd in the Toyota men's 800m in 1:49.51 as he failed to qualify.
Brandon Hicklin: Hicklin finished 14th in the men's long jump on Friday with a leap of 25-feet, 2 1/2-inches. Hicklin had the best long jump in the nation in 2022 at 26-feet, 10-inches. Hicklin is a two-time first-team All-American in the outdoor long jump and a two-time second-team All-American in the indoor long jump.
Delecia McDuffie: McDuffie placed 12th in the first round of the Nike women's 400m on Thursday in 51.87. She finished sixth in her heat. McDuffie clocked in at 51.82 in the semifinal on Friday to place seventh in her heat and 14th overall. As a result, she did not qualify for the final. McDuffie earned first-team indoor All-American honors in 2021 after finishing seventh nationally in the 200m. She earned second-team All-American honors in the outdoor 400m in 2022.
Jonah Ross: Ross will compete in the Xfinity women's 200m at 3:10 p.m. EST on Saturday. Ross earned first-team All-American honors in the 4x100 in 2021 and second-team honors the same year in the 200m.
Randolph Ross Jr.: On Thursday, Ross Jr. won his heat in the Toyota men's 400m at 45.66. He advanced to the 400m semifinals, where he placed second overall and second in his heat at 44.36. Ross' Olympic teammate Michael Norman won the heat and had the fastest qualifying time in 44.28. The two will compete in the final at 5:31 p.m. EST on Saturday. Ross Jr. is a five-time national champion and an 11-time first-team All-American at A&T. He is a contender for the Bowerman Award given to the best male and female track and field athlete in the country after winning the 400m national title during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Paula Salmon: Salmon qualified for the 100h semifinals on Friday by finishing her race in 12.76. She placed second in her heat and 11th overall. Salmon will compete in the semifinal Saturday afternoon at 4:04 EST. In 2022, Salmon earned first-team All-American honors in the 60H and the 100H. She also has a second-team All-American honor in the 100H during her career.
Trevor Stewart: Stewart had a spectacular career at A&T, earning United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region men's athlete of the year during the outdoor season in 2021. He won two national titles at A&T in the indoor and outdoor 4x400 relays. Stewart was a seven-time first-team All-American during his track and field career at A&T.
Cambrea Sturgis: Sturgis won the national championship in the 100 and 200m in 2021 and qualified for the Nike women's 100m on Thursday in 11.19. She finished 15th overall and fourth in her heat. Sturgis failed to qualify for the final after placing 14th overall and seventh in her heat in Friday's semifinal (11.04). Sturgis will compete in the Xfinity in the women's 200m first round at 3:10 p.m. EST Saturday.
Kayla White: White has a historic standing at A&T, earning the track and field program's first-ever event national championship. White is also the first Aggie student-athlete to win a national player of the year honor after winning NCAA Indoor Women's Athlete of the Year in 2019 after winning the 200m indoor national title that season. In addition, white was a six-time first-team All-American at A&T. On Thursday, White qualified for the Nike women's 100m semifinals by running an 11.08 in the first round to finish third in her heat and 11th overall. She ran a season-best 10.99 in the semifinal on Friday. But she failed to qualify for the final by finishing 10th overall and sixth in her heat. White will compete in the Xfinity in the women's 200m first round at 3:10 p.m. EST Saturday.
