Carr Moves Closer to The Lead at PGA Works

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – North Carolina A&T senior women's golfer Christyn Carr made a significant move up the leaderboard on Tuesday, firing off an even-par 72 to jump 12 spots to fifth place with a two-round total of 12-over 154. 
 
Carr's day moved her to within five strokes of the lead during the second day and second round of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship at the par-72, 6,159-yard Union League Liberty Hill golf course. 
 
The teams played Monday's action on a par-70 course. 
 
The Carr surge helped A&T move up a spot to tie for fourth place with Howard University. The Aggies shot a 30-over 318, and they stand at 80-over 648. 
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi leads the tournament at 38-over 606, followed by second-place Delaware State (54-over, 622) and third-place Chicago State (73-over, 641). 
 
Individually, Corpus Christi's Lucie Charbonnier leads the tournament at 7-over 149, followed by Delaware State's Nattavadee (8-over, 150), Delaware State's Anna Ferreyra-Heit (9-over, 151), Corpus Christi's Luz Martinez-Rico (10-over, 152) and Carr. 
 
Carr tied for the second-lowest second round of any golfer in the field with Charbonnier. 
 
Carr went 2-under par on the par 5s. She started on the 10th hole, par-4, with a par. She then birdied the 357-yard, par-4 11th to begin her day at 1-under par. 
 
After back-to-back bogeys to go 1-over par, Carr parred the next three holes before finishing with a bogey on 17. She made the turn with a 38 on her card. She added another birdie on the par-5, 526-yard third to go 1-over. 
 
She parred the next five holes before finishing her fantastic day with a birdie on the 461-yard, par- 5 ninth to shoot 34 on the front nine. 
 
Junior Jayla Rogers moved up three spots after a 9-over par 81 for a two-round score of 164 to end Round 2 in a tie for 19th place. Rogers had one birdie in the round as she posted a four on the par-5 ninth. 
 
Freshman Vileska Gelpi and graduate Xuss Boira are a part of a three-way tie for 25th after a two-round score of 168. Gelpi moved up a spot after a second-round score of 83. Boira carded an 88.   
 
Graduate Isabela Miravite finished the second round with an 82 for a two-round score of 169.
 
The final round and the Aggies season conclude Wednesday with A&T teeing off at 8:03 a.m. on the 10th hole.
