EAST GREENSBORO -- North Carolina A&T lost for the fifth time in conference play as the Campbell Fighting Camels defeated the Aggies 7-0 in women's tennis Big South Conference play on Saturday at the Dudley High School tennis courts.Â
The Aggies lost the doubles point after a forfeit at No.3 doubles and losses at No. 1 and 2 doubles. At No. 1, A&T sophomore Manuela Jimenez and senior
Marlene Estenssoro Pineda lost 6-2 to Rhona Cook and Mialy Ranaivo to clinch the doubles point.Â
Sophomore
Florielvis Hurtado Pernaleta and freshman
Cielo Tapia-Cruz lost to Marissa Pennings and Annie-Marie Kopecka 6-2 to end doubles competition.Â
The singles competition started with the Aggies forfeiting at No.6. The Aggies then lost at No. 2 singles as Jimenez lost to Pennings 6-1, 6-1. Estenssoro lost at No. 4 as Sandra Gines won 6-1, 6-2.Â
As No.5 singles, sophomore
Trinity Oliver lost 6-2, 6-2 to Mariana Ossa. The match continued with Hurtado, who had a lengthy battle with Cook, a left-hander. But Hurtado lost 6-1, 6-4. Finally, Tapia-Cruz lost 6-4, 6-3 against Mialy Ranaivo at No. 3.
Aggies will be back in action Sunday morning at 11 at the Dudley High School Tennis Courts against Hampton University. Â
