Women's Tennis Loses Two On The Road

Marlene Estenssoro wins twice over the weekend.

SAVANNAH, Ga./ORANGEBURG, S.C. – North Carolina A&T women's tennis sophomore Marlene Estenssoro Pineda won twice last weekend in two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matches as the Aggies finished the MEAC season with a 6-1 loss to Florida A&M in Savannah, Ga., and a 4-1 loss at South Carolina State.
Estenssoro Pineda defeated Adrienne Clayton 7-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9) at the No. 5 singles in the FAMU match and defeated Andejela Mihajovic 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 3 singles in the SCSU match.
In the FAMU contest, the Aggies lost all three doubles matches as Aylen Hubeaut and Haleigh Porter defeated senior Renata Ruiz Rabadan and Mikaya Hamilton 6-1 at the No. 1 position, while Arielle Nealy and Rachel Harden defeated Aggies duo of junior Ameer Robertson and freshman Florielvis Hurtado Pernaleta 6-3 at the No. 2 position to clinch the doubles point.
The Rattlers won the final doubles match as Claudia Sumaia and Adrienne Clayton defeated freshman Manuela Sofia Jimenez and Estenssoro Pinera 6-3.
FAMU took a 2-0 lead after Harden defeated Robertson 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles and took a 3-0 lead after Hubeaut defeated Hamilton 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles.
The Rattlers won the match after Porter defeated Ruiz Rabadan 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 position and took a 5-0 lead after Nearly defeated Hurtado Pernaleta 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 4 singles.
FAMU took a 6-0 lead after Sumaia defeated Jimenez 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 6 position, but Estenssoro Pineda won at the No. 5 singles position to cut the lead to 6-1.
The Aggies then faced SCSU.  The Bulldogs won the doubles point after Hind Semlali and Ikram Rassif defeated Estenssoro Pineda and Jimenez 6-3 at the No. 2 position and Anabel Aguilar Ramirez and Andejela Mihajovic defeated freshman Trinity Oliver and Hamilton 6-2.
The final doubles point went unfinished as Hurtado Pernaleta and Robinson was leading Rachida Berjane and Lasya Patnaik 4-3 when the doubles point was clinched.
SCSU won three singles to win the match at the No. 1 position as Berjane defeated Hurtado Pernaleta 6-4, 6-0, at the No. 2 position as Semlali defeated Robertson 6-3, 6-3 and at the No. 4 position as Patnaik defeated Jimenez 6-0, 6-1.
Estenssoro Pineda win at the No. 3 singles position gave the Aggie the only point of the match.
The No. 5 and No. 6 singles went unfinished as Rassif won the first set 6-2 and was leading 1-0 when the match was clinched at the No. 5 position and Ramirez was leading Hamilton 5-2 when the match was clinched.
