FARMVILLE, Va. – The North Carolina A&T Aggies fell to the Longwood Lancers, 5-2, at the New Lancer courts in non-conference men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon.
The doubles matches took place prior to singles play. Sophomore
Vasil Ivanov and freshman
Esteban Lopez teamed up on the No. 1 court, but fell, 6-4. Senior
Nicolas Arduh and freshman
Eadwyn Bacar dropped the No. 2 doubles match, 6-0. Freshmen
Nolan Martino and
Mike Ogundele also lost, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles to give the Lancers (4-4) the doubles point.
Both Ogundele and Martino were able to secure a singles point for the Aggies (0-6), however. Ogundele bested Andrew Ilett, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 on the No. 5 singles court to secure his second singles victory as an Aggie and the first since Feb. 6.
Martino faced Sebastian Mezo in a match that went to the overtime point 5-7, 7-5, 10-3 to grab the other point for A&T.
Longwood won in straight sets on the top four singles courts.
Next up for the Aggies is a road match against the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, March 19.
