AGGIES OVERVIEW: The Aggies are coming off their biggest win of the season, a road victory over the arch-rival Eagles in Durham on Wednesday evening. Junior Webster Filmore stepped up in a big way, notching his first career double-double (12 points, 14 rebounds) and hauling in a career-high in rebounds. Junior Tyrone Lyons scored a season-high 15 points in the game as well. N.C. A&T made a season-high 25 free throws and shot 80.6 percent against the Eagles. N.C. A&T committed a season-low five turnovers. The Aggies have won six out of their last seven games. A&T ranks No. 1 in the conference in scoring margin (+5.9), turnover margin (+3.57), offensive rebounds (14.3/game) and offensive rebound percentage (.379). They are also second in steals per game (8.3). Head coach Will Jones is in his first full year after taking over in late December of 2019 and is 24-15 (.615) overall and 18-5 (.783) in the MEAC.
EAGLES OVERVIEW: The Eagles 18-game home conference winning streak came to an end when the Aggies defeated them on Wednesday in front of a live national television audience on ESPNU. NCCU was projected to win the MEAC's southern division but currently sit in third place, 3.0 games back from the first-place Aggies. The Eagles have two preseason all-conference players in senior guards CJ Keyser (first team) and Jordan Perkins (second team). Keyser is averaging 17.8 points per game so far this season, tops in the conference. He is the only player on the team averaging in double-figures. Keyser was held to a season-low 11 points in Wednesday's loss to A&T. Head coach Levelle Moton is in his 10th year at the program's helm and is 211-154 (.578) overall and 109-39 (.736) in the MEAC since taking over. The former NCCU men's basketball player has led the Eagles to four MEAC tournament titles.
