AGGIES OVERVIEW:Â North Carolina A&T continues the season with a short trip to Durham, N.C., to face chief rival N.C. Central in back-to-back days.Â

Senior setter
Edie Brewer continues to display the versatility that makes the Aggies effective. She ranks second in the MEAC in service aces per set (0.90), fourth assists per set (7.00), seventh in digs (3.00) and ninth in hitting percentage.Â

Fatimah Shabazz has her season off to a fast start by leading the MEAC in kills per set (3.60) while ranking third in the conference in hitting percentage (.338).Â

Junior middle Shaylnn Hall has also starred for the Aggies over the first three matches. She is second in the conference in blocks per set (1.20) and sixth in hitting percentage (.300). Junior libero
Andrea Laboy-Rivera and senior Courtney Pitt are also playing well for the Aggies. Laboy-Rivera ranks third in the MEAC in digs per set (4.60), and Pitt is sixth in the league in kills per set (2.86).Â

Hal Clifton leads N.C. A&T. Clifton enters his 10th season in Aggieland. When he arrived as the Aggies head coach, N.C. A&T only had five players. In the past three seasons, the Aggies have not finished below .500. The last time N.C. A&T finished below .500 in the MEAC under Clifton was 2012. Last season, he led the Aggies to the MEAC southern division title at 13-1, and the Aggies made a postseason appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championships.Â

Clifton earned coach of the year in the MEAC in 2019. He has a 44-41 record (.518) over the previous three seasons, including a 26-8 (.765) MEAC record over that same span.Â

NCCU EAGLES OVERVIEW:Â Â NCCU started the season last week with two three-set sweeps at S.C. State. The Eagles home opener against the Aggies Friday will feature Jasmine Sanders and Ammaarah Williams. Sanders leads the team in kills per set (2.80), and Williams is second at 2.60 per set. Williams also averages 1.60 aces per set and 1.40 blocks per set.Â

Lauren Janok leads the team in assists per set (8.33) while averaging 3.33 digs per set.   Â
Jody Brown leads the NCCU Eagles as head coach. In 2019, Brown helped NCCU win its most matches since 2012. The seven victories in conference play that season is the most since the Lady Eagles joined the MEAC in 2011.

MEAC WEEKLY AWARDS:Â For the second consecutive week, the Aggies received two more MEAC weekly awards as Brewer earned co-setter of the week and Hall secured defensive specialist of the week.
Brewer averaged 6.67 assists, 2.83 kills, 3.17 digs, 1.00 service aces and 0.17 blocks against NSU with two double-doubles. On Thursday, Brewer recorded a match-high 19 assists and tied a match-high with 12 digs. Her totals also included seven kills, two aces and a .353 hitting percentage. On Friday, she recorded another double-double with a match-high 21 assists and 10 kills to go along with seven digs, four aces and a .364 hitting percentage.

Hall's Thursday included a match-high five blocks with two of them solo. She added seven kills with a .636 hitting percentage. She followed with a match-high four blocks to go along with five kills.

CAREER WATCH:Â
- Pitt needs five kills to become the third Aggie to reach at least 1,000 career kills.Â
- Brewer appears on several top-10 lists in school history. She is fourth all-time in assists (1,958), sixth in aces (117), seventh in block assists (148), eighth in digs (710) and 10th in kills (645).
- Laboy-Rivera recorded 24 digs in two matches against Norfolk State to give her 945 career digs to move into fourth place all-time, leaving her 55 digs shy of 1,000.
