EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T men's tennis announced the signing of Alex Martinez-Sanz (Pamplona, Spain), the newest member of the Aggie family. 

Martinez-Sanz attended Colegio Irabia-Iazaga. He ranked No. 166 in the Spanish National Men's Singles ranking and is No. 19 among Spanish players in his age group.

He had a No. 1 ranking in the Spanish National Junior Doubles, Under-18, and No. 89 in the Spanish National Doubles ranking.

In 2021, Martinez-Sanz clinched a No. 2 spot on the Masters of RPT Marca Junior Cup U18 by Wilson 2021, the most prestigious national tennis circuit in Spain for U18 players.

He was a semi-finalist in three national tournaments of the RPT Marca Junior Cup U18 by Wilson 2021 in Madrid, Zaragoza and Marbella.  

He teamed with Antonio Part to reach the quarterfinals in the doubles of the Junior Spanish Nationals. However, he missed the semifinals by one match point. Martinez-Sanz and Prat were regional doubles champions in 2021.

Representing Club Tennis Pamplona, Martinez-Sanz was the champion of the consolation draw in the Spanish National Junior Teams Championship.

Before 2021, Martinez-Sanz was the runner-up in the U14 Spanish National Regional Teams representing Navarra and won numerous official tournaments in all categories in -- singles, doubles and teams in three different Spanish regions.

Martinez-Sanz was a member of the Young Talent Sports Program sponsored by the Miguel Indurain Foundation and the Government of Navarra.
