Aggies WBB Adds Averett to the Schedule

AGGIES OVERVIEW: After some schedule changes, North Carolina A&T State women's basketball is finally back in action in the New Year. They host Averett Sunday. They initially expected to start the MEAC schedule this weekend by traveling to Orangeburg, S.C., to face S.C. State Saturday and Sunday. The Bulldogs postponed the game due to COVID-19 contact tracing. The two games were postponed to a week later on Saturday, Jan. 9, and Sunday, Jan. 10, with 2 and 4 p.m. tipoffs, respectively. 
 
AVERETT OVERVIEW:  The Cougars will count today's game as an exhibition. The Cougars start the season on Jan. 15 with a trip to William Peace. The two schools are meeting for the first time. 
 
Young Team:  The Aggies have one of the youngest teams in the country. The average age of the N.C. A&T women's basketball team is 19.5-years old. That is tied for the sixth youngest team in the nation with UNLV. Oral Roberts, LaSalle, Incarnate Word and Montana State all have the younger teams. N.C. A&T has 10 student-athletes that are either 18 or 19 years old. The Aggies feature seven true freshmen tied for the fourth-most in the country behind Oral Roberts, Incarnate Word and Penn State.
 
Rankings: The Aggies lead the MEAC and rank 15th in the nation with 12.5 steals per game. They are fourth in the MEAC and 43rd in the country in blocks per game (5.0). N.C. A&T leads the MEAC and ranks 12th in the nation with 22.5 turnovers forced. They lead the MEAC and rank 30th in scoring defense, giving up an average of 56.5 points per game.
 
The Aggies lead the MEAC and rank 30th in the nation with 16.5 offensive rebounds per game.
 
They lead the MEAC and rank 28th in the country in rebounding margin (10.5). Jones-Pack leads the MEAC and ranks third in the nation with 3.5 blocks per game, while Tucker ranks first in the MEAC and sixth in the nation in shooting percentage (66.7).              
 
Scott leads the MEAC and ranks fourth in the nation with 5.5 offensive rebounds per game and leads the MEAC and ranks 36th in the nation with 10.0 rebounds per game. Winters leads the MEAC and ranks 14th in the country with 3.5 3-point field goals made per game and leads the MEAC and ranks 49th in the nation with a 46.7 3-point field goal percentage.
 
Career Watch: With six blocks against UNC Greensboro in the opener, Jones-Pack moved into the top-15 in school history with 41 career blocks.
