Fleurinord Wins Long Jump at UK

N.C. A&T returns to the track after 10-months away from competition.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – When asked about his jumpers before the season, Duane Ross, North Carolina A&T's director of track and field programs, mentioned that it is a pleasure to watch sophomore Bradley Fleurinord hit the platform before a jump.

Fleurinord did not disappoint in the Aggies men's and women's track and field teams return to competition on Friday after a 10-month layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fleurinord won the men's long jump Friday at the University of Kentucky's McCravy Green Invitational at Nector Field House.

He won the competition with his best jump measured 24-feet, 6 ¾-inches. Fleurinord, a junior college transfer out of Barton Community College, had the only first-place finish for the Aggies on Friday.

On the track, the Aggies had three ladies finish in the top-10 in the 200 meters. Junior Kamaya Debose-Epps won her section and finished third overall in 24.25. Freshman Jonah Ross finished behind her fourth at 24.30 and junior Nilaja Florence finished eighth in 25.05.

In the men's 200, three Aggies finished in the top-10, with freshman Javonte Harding leading the way by finishing second in 21.06. Junior Daniel Stokes finished fifth in 21.51 and junior Malcolm Croom-McFadden had a seventh-place finish in 21.90.

Senior Loren James made her season debut and finished fifth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 55-feet, 6 ½-inches. Three Aggies competed in the women's long jump in freshmen
Jade King (5th, 17-feet, 8 ¼-inches), Faith Sutton (6th, 17-feet, 7 ½-inches) and Arrieya Harper (7th, 16-feet, 7 ¼-inches).

N.C. A&T returns to action Saturday at the McCravy Green Invite with the first event – the women's pole vault – starting at 11 a.m. The first time the Aggies compete will be at 11:30 a.m., with the women's 60m. Two-time All-American Cambrea Sturgis will make her season debut at that time.
