EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T women's tennis (0-4) hosts its second home match of the season on Sunday against Western Michigan (5-5) at 10 a.m.
The Aggies play two early matches next week with a trip to Longwood, Va., to face Longwood (4-1) Monday at noon and to Boiling Springs, N.C., to face Gardner-Webb (3-3) Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Aggies had a tennis player win a contest for the first time this season when junior Mikayla Hamilton won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles at Radford.
Senior
Renata Ruiz Rabadan has played at the No. 1 singles position in each of the four matches, while freshman
Jaimy Lokoschus played her first collegiate match at the No. 2 singles position against the College of Charleston Cougars.
Hamilton has played at the No. 3 singles position in three of the four matches.
Marlene Estenssoro Pineda has played at the second, fourth and fifth spots in the lineup this season. Junior
Ameer Robertson played at the No. 2 singles position the last time out.
Freshman
Florielvis Hurtado Pernaleta played in her first collegiate match at Clemson and nearly defeated the Cougars Eleanor Campbell after winning 6-1 in the first set but losing 6-4 in the second set and 1-0 (7) in the third at the No. 4 singles.
Western Michigan:
The Broncos has won three of the last four matches, but fell to Marquette 5-2 the last timeout in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Broncos are led by Jeryn Jack's 3-1 record. Valerie Riegraf is 6-1 and Lindsey Zieglar is 8-2.
Longwood:
The Lancers is 4-1 with their only loss coming to Elon, 7-0. Longwood must face Campbell, Norfolk State and Mount St. Mary's before facing the Aggies. The Lancers are led by Yulia Almiron, Emma Nurgazieva, Maria Saez and Marija Venta. They all have 4-1 records.
Gardner-Webb:
The Runnin' Bulldogs have lost two of their last three. They did defeat conference opponent Hampton, 7-0, the last time out. The Bulldogs face UNC Greensboro and conference opponent Radford at home before facing the Aggies. GWU is led by Mayumi Saquchi (5-0). Manon Delsol and Mijiana Ristic are both 4-2.
