CLEMSON, S.C. – North Carolina A&T women's tennis fell to Clemson 7-0 Friday at The Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
The Tigers (1-0) won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Clemson won at the No. 3 doubles by a walkover and clinched the point after Ali DeSpain/Eleni Louka defeated the Aggies doubles duo of Florielvis Hurado Pernaleta and
Mikaya Hamilton 6-1 at the No. 2 position.
Renata Ruiz Rabadan and
Marlene Estenssoro Pineda fell to Clemson's doubles team of Mackenzy Middlebrooks and Tate Schroeder 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
Clemson took a 2-0 lead after a walkover win at the No. 6 singles position and took a 3-0 lead after Laura Marti defeated
Ameer Robinson 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position.
The Tigers clinched the match after DeSpain defeated Hamilton 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles position and took a 5-0 lead after Zaina Nait Omar defeated Estenssoro Pineda 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position.
Clemson took a 6-0 lead after Tate Schroeder defeated Ruiz Rabadan at the No. 1 singles position. Ruiz Rabadan fell short to Schroeder in 6-4 in the first set and lost 6-0 in the second set.
Clemson won the final match at the No. 3 singles position after Lana Sipek defeated Hurado Pernaleta. Like the previous match, Hurado Pernaleta fell short to Sipek 6-4 in the first set and lost 6-0 in the second set.
The Aggies (0-2) host College of Charleston in their home opener Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Aggie Tennis Complex.
