GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T women's tennis began the spring season with a 7-0 loss to Elon at Barber Park.
"With the first match of the season, we were two players down," said N.C. A&T coach 
William Crutchfield.  "For the first match of the season, it was a test and like most exams, you test how well familiar you are with the information that you've been given. We didn't fail the test, but we lost the match."
With the Aggies short-handed, Elon won both doubles matches to win the doubles point. The Phoenix then won all four singles matches to earn their five points.
In the doubles, 
Renata Ruiz Rabadan and Marlene Estenssoro fell to Elon doubles duo of Alex Kaniaev and Uma Nanar 6-0 at the No. 1 position, while 
Mikaya Hamilton and 
Ameer Robinson fell to Elon doubles team of Olivia Archer and Shauna Galavin 6-1 at the No. 2 position.
In the singles, Ruiz Rabadan fell to Kaniav 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position, while Estenssoro fell to Victoria Saldh 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles position.  Hamilton fell to Nunar 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles position, while Robertson fell to Archer 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 singles position.
The Aggies continue the season with hosting College of Charleston Thursday at 2 p.m. at Aggie Tennis Complex before traveling to Clemson, S.C., to face Clemson Friday at 2:30 p.m.
