CONWAY, S.C. (February 17, 2018) – The North Carolina A&T women's tennis faced a difficult challenge in South Carolina on Saturday as they faced the a Coastal Carolina Chanticleers that already had an opportunity to play on Saturay before competing against the Aggies.
After playing Wofford, the Chanticleeers defeated N.C. A&T 7-0. The Aggies dropped to 0-5 on the season.
“It is difficult to put into words the progress I see on the team,” said N.C. A&T coach William Crutchfield. “The good thing is that we are getting better together as a team. We are getting stronger and playing a better brand of tennis. I like our MEAC chances this year.”
There were hard-fought singles matches played at No. 3, 4 and 5 positions by sophomore Renata Ruiz, junior Angelica Martinez and senior Nadia Hilton-Adams. Each Aggie lost their respective first sets 6-4 with Martinez having the most competitive second set. Martinez lost to Jessie Mount 6-3 in an intense contest.
The Aggies lost all three doubles matches to lose the doubles point.
N.C. A&T will take on College of Charleston Sunday morning at 10 with the men's match to follow.
