GREENSBORO (February 17, 2017) – In their first conference match of the season, the North Carolina A&T men's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to South Carolina State Friday at the Aggie Tennis Complex.

The loss sends the Aggies to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. S.C. State, who has won 11 MEAC titles in 13 years, took all six singles matches, but the Aggies did take the doubles point by winning 2 of 3 doubles matches in the contest.

Nicolas Arduh and Niko Barr took the No. 1 doubles match 7-6 and 8-6 in the tiebreaker. Adair Bartra and Brett Caban were the other winners for the Aggies as they defeated Edgar Diaz and Stanislav Baco 6-4. Even John Wilson IV and Dreshaun Jarmon were close to victory before falling short against Soufiane Mouline and Vladyslav Yanchenko, 6-4.

On the singles side, Barr battled against Aleksander Stupar before losing a close first set 7-6, 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Barr fell short in the second set 6-3. Wilson also looked good before falling short against Mouline as took the first 6-3, before losing the second set and the tiebreaker. Arduh was played a close match with Martin Figura before losing a straight set 6-4, 5-4 decision.
