Youthful Aggie Women Lose To Chippewas

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The North Carolina A&T women's basketball team had a hard time stopping Central Michigan from doing what it wanted to do offensively on Friday night.

As a result, the Chippewas shot 54.8 percent in a 119-71 win over the Aggies in the first game of the Winthrop Tournament played at the Winthrop Coliseum. Brandie Baker led the Chippewas with 12 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Kaihla Szunko chipped in with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Freshman Mikala Scott led the Aggies with 17 points. Fellow freshman Sabre Proctor added 13.

"We did not execute at all tonight." said N.C. A&T women's head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. "We didn't play defense nor did we play offense. Seventy-one points is enough to beat a team, but we just didn't execute."

After a Proctor 3-point play cut the Chippewas' lead to four at 19-15, the Aggies went through a five-minute stretch where they turned the ball over seven times. CMU took advantage by taking a 41-21 lead with 7:28 remaining in the first half.

The Aggies will play host Winthrop on Sunday at 3 p.m.
