Biography

 

Has the potential to be one of the top scorers in the conference in 2011-12...Can shoot the 3-point shot, but also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket...Head coach Jerry Eaves is looking for Simpson to improve his 3-point percentage in order to give the Aggies a better chance to win...Hopes last season's strong performance will propel him to All-MEAC honors in 2011-12...His ability to get in the paint and draw fouls is key for North Carolina A&T because he is an excellent free throw shooter...Enters his senior season with 707 career points, with a career .357 field goal percentage, .313 3-point field goal percentage, and a .717 free throw percentage...Also has 81 career assists and 54 career steals in 82 total games played.

 

2010-2011 Season: Simpson appeared in 27 games, and started in 18...He finished the season second on the team with  13.3 scoring average...Averaged 29.5 minutes per game...Shot .369 from the floor, .307 from 3-point range and .782 from the free throw line...Averaged 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 steals...Finished 12th in the MEAC in scoring and seventh in free throw shooting...Missed five games with a knee injury...Went 8-for-8 at the free throw line against N.C. Central on Jan. 24 in a loss...Led the team in scoring eight times and posted double figures 21 times...Led the team in steals seven times and in assists three times...Posted a season-high 25 points on Jan. 10 against Bethune-Cookman...Had back-to-back games with 20 or more points on Jan. 8 and Jan. 10...Had a season-high five assists on Dec. 23 at Arizona State.

 

2009-2010 Season: Played in 33 games with 20 starts...Started the Aggies first 20 games of the season before he started coming off of the bench...Averaged 9.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists...Shot .370 from the floor, .343 from 3-point range and .813 from the free throw line...Ranked 23rd in the conference in scoring...Reached double figures 16 times and led the Aggies in scoring three times...Made the MEAC All-Tournament Team at season's end...Scored 38 points on 13-for-14 shooting from the free throw line during the tournament...Opened the 2009-10 season with a 21-point performance against Brevard College as he hit five 3-pointers in the game...Scored a career-best 22 points on 7-for-15 shooting in a loss at Ohio University on Nov. 17...Scored 17 points on 4-for-4 shooting from 3-point range in the Aggies 93-84 overtime win over Norfolk State on Dec. 5...Connected on five 3-pointers and scored 15 points as the Aggies lost to Howard 82-77 at home on Jan. 16.

2008-09 Season: Appeared in 22 games and made one start his freshman season...Averaged 6.8 minutes per game and 1.5 points per game...Finished tenth on the team in scoring with 34 points...He also had 17 rebounds with 10 assists and four steals...Went 14-for-24 at the free throw line for a .583 free throw percentage...Had a season-high 3 assists on Dec. 28 at Georgia, to lead the team for the game...Had a season-high 10 points on Jan. 5 against Tennessee Wesleyan.
