2011
Season: Played in 11 games with 10 starts...Earned preseason All-MEAC
honors...Rushed for a career-best 1,120 yards and nine touchdowns on 231
carries...Became just the second back in school history to rush for more than
1,000 yards rushing in consecutive seasons when he went over the threshold
against archrival N.C. Central on Nov. 19...Earned first-team All-MEAC honors for
the second straight season and shared MEAC Offensive Player of the Year honors
with Norfolk State quarterback Chris Walley following the season...Led the MEAC
and was 22nd nationally in rushing with 101.8 yards per game...Ranked
third in the conference in all-purpose yards (111.8 per game), fourth in
scoring touchdowns, ninth in scoring and 10th in total offense...Ranked
66th nationally in all-purpose yards per game...Named to the Walter
Payton Watch List after he rushed for a career-high 233 yards rushing on 26
carries in a 24-3 win over Morgan State on Oct. 1...The following Monday, he
earned MEAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades...Followed up his Morgan State
performance with three straight 100-yard games, including a 128-yard,
three-touchdown performance against Delaware State on Oct. 15 as the Aggies
ended a seven-year homecoming losing streak with a 42-24 win...Closed out the
season with 163 yards rushing on a career-high 32 carries as the Aggies
defeated N.C. Central 31-21 on Nov. 19.
2010
Season: Played in 11 games with 11 starts...Rushed for 1,082 yards and seven
touchdowns on 221 carries...Broke Charlie Sutton's 30-year single-season school
record for carries...Became just the sixth player in school history to rush for
more than 1,000 yards in a single season, joining Maurice Hicks (2), James
White, Michael Ferguson, Milton Shaw and Maurice Smith...Earned first-team
All-MEAC honors as he became the first Aggie back to do so since Maurice Hicks
in 2001...Ranked second in the MEAC and 23rd in the nation in rushing
yards per game...Recorded six 100-yard performances during the season, leaving
him one shy of Hicks' school record of seven...Had his first career 100-yard game
on Sept. 18 when he rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown at Hampton...Followed
that performance with a 183-yard, one-touchdown showing at N.C. Central on
Sept. 25...Had his third consecutive 100-yard performance the next when he posted
114 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee State in the Circle City
Classic...Became the first back since Brandon Sweeney in 2005 to rush for more
than 200 yards in a game when he recorded a career-best 211 yards at
Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 28...It was the 10th best rushing performance
in school history.
2009
Season: Had an
outstanding season despite sharing the load with two other running backs...Led
the team in rushing, carries and he made 14 receptions for an average 8.9 yards
per catch...Also returned 14 kickoffs for an average of 20.6 yards...Had one punt
return for 13 yards...His six touchdowns were the most scored by rookie since Al
Holland's 12 in 1971...Had two huge kickoff returns against Winston-Salem State
on Sept. 5...His 47-yard kickoff return in the second quarter led to a Carlton
Fears 2-yard touchdown...Later in the game, he had a 67-yard kickoff that gave
the Aggies the ball at WSSU's 28-yard line...Also scored the first touchdown of
his career against the Rams, which turned out to be the game-winning touchdown
in a 19-10 win...Also had an excellent game the next week against Norfolk
State...Rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries...His 8-yard run in the
third quarter served as the winning touchdown...Mayhew had runs 13, 19 and 15 on
the winning drive...Continued his great season a week later against Hampton on Sept. 19...Rushed
for 77 yards on 11 carries and scored once...Carried the ball just four times
against Howard, but scored twice and rushed for 54 yards in the Aggies 30-19
win on Oct. 24.
High School: Two-time all-conference performer...Rushed for 1,242 yards and
14 TD's as a senior.
