High School: Played high school football at nearby Oak Grove under head coach Rob Creason … Started playing varsity football as a sophomore, helping the Grizzlies to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the third of the North Carolina Class 3A west playoffs, where they lost to West Henderson … As a junior, he made 58 tackles, including 12 for loss … Also recorded three sacks on the season … Helped the Grizzlies put together a 10-2 record overall and a 5-0 mark in the Mid-Piedmont 3A conference … Thanks to Boulware, the Grizzlies defense only gave up 12.3 points per game … As a senior, he posted 62 tackles, including 14 for and seven sacks …He helped Oak Grove reach the second round of the NCHSAA 5A Football Playoffs … Earned All-Area and all-conference honors as a senior … Was a 3-star athlete coming out of high school.
