Laila was one of four significant Division I transfers who signed with North Carolina A&T in 2022 … Had an excellent first season with the Aggies, contributing mightily to A&T’s first-year success in the CAA … Was recruited out of high school by the Aggies before choosing East Carolina … Was a forced to be reckoned with in the CAA on both sides of the floor because oh her explosiveness and super athleticism … Always proves vital in the Aggies full-court pressure … Defensively, she creates turnovers ... Offensively, she is a finisher in transition. 

2022-23 Season: Played in 23 games with eight starts … Averaged 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting a team-best 55.4 percent from the floor (51-for-92) and 48.9 percent from the free throw line … Scored in double figures three times during the season … Had a career game during the Aggies 2022-23 regular-season finale when she went 7-for-7 from the field, scoring 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds as the Aggies defeated perennial CAA power Drexel 59-57 in Philadelphia … She was one of 10 players in the CAA during the season who had a perfect shooting percentage in a game when attempting five or more shots … Scored a career-high 15 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 shooting from the free throw line, while grabbing a career-high eight rebounds in A&T’s 65-62 win over Monmouth on Feb. 19 at Corbett Sports Center … Also had eight boards on Jan. 13 in A&T’s 67-63 win over Northeastern at Corbett. 

2021-2022 (ECU): Played in 11 games without a start … Averaged 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 74 minutes of action … Shot 9-for-27 (.333) from the floor and 6-for-15 (.400) from the free throw line. 

High School: Played her high school basketball at Ridgeview under Terrence Gibson … Rated the No. 1 recruit out of South Carolina by A1 Sports and SC Southern Hoops … Earned All-State honors as a senior after averaging 22.1 points and 14.8 rebounds … Played in the South Carolina North/South All-Star Game … Secured Region IV 5A player of the year and the 5A SCBCA All-State co-player of the year honor … Reached the 1,000-point mark for her career as a junior and joined the 1,000-rebound club the following season … Finished the 2019-20 season averaging 16.2 points and 10.5 rebounds with 14 double-doubles … Secured a spot on the 2019-20 SCHSL 3-4 All-Region and All-State Teams … Her sophomore and junior seasons, she made the HSSR 3-4 All-State team … Also, during her sophomore and junior seasons, she earned Ridge View’s most valuable player, best rebounder and best scorer awards … Averaged 14.8 points and 11.8 rebounds with 17 double-doubles in 2018-19 … Averaged 11.2 points and 10.4 rebounds and tallied nine double-doubles as a freshman … Her club team was Aja Wilson Elite, playing under head coach Jerome Dickerson.
