Cain started his career at Division II Winston-Salem State … When the program dissolved, he transferred to Division II King University … Came to North Carolina A&T after two years at King … Should give the Aggies some help from the bullpen … Can also eat up some innings for the Aggies in long relief appearances … After missing last season, he became a part of the Aggies bullpen in 2023 … Does an excellent job of mixing up his pitches and has a good strikeout pitch … Could become a vital part of the Aggies bullpen as they enter the 2024 season.
2023 Season: Made seven appearances without a start … Pitched 5.1 innings with a 5.06 ERA with four strikeouts and three walks … Earned his first career win as an Aggie on April 12 against High Point University in a 3 ½ hour marathon at home when the Aggies won in a walk-off, 12-11 in 11 innings … In the game, Cain entered as the Aggies 10th pitcher of the game, pitching one inning and striking out one in the 11th to keep the game tied going into the Aggies’ 11th.
2022 Season: Did not play as a junior for A&T.
2021 Season (at King): Appeared in 14 games with four starts … Compiled a 10.18 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched … Allowed 24 runs and struck out 22 batters throughout the year … Threw a season-high 3.1 innings in his first start against Limestone University on Feb. 25 … Had a season-best four strikeouts on April 17 against Emmanuel College.
2020 Season (at King): Appeared in six games, making five starts as a sophomore … Had a 4-1 record with a 2.27 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched … Allowed eight runs with 33 strikeouts compared to just 10 walks … Held opposing batters to a .218 average … Picked up his first win on Feb. 15 against Salem University going 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts … Threw 6.1 innings in win over Emmanuel College on March 7 … Also allowed just two hits with 10 strikeouts in the game.
2019 Season (at WSSU): Made six starts in 15 appearances as a freshman … Posted a 3-2 record in 37.0 innings pitched … Had a 4.62 ERA with 32 strikeouts and 39 walks … Threw 5.0 innings and allowed two runs with six strikeouts in a win over Indiana (Pa.) on March 10 … Recorded at least one strikeout in eight of his 15 appearances … Tallied a 1.000 fielding percentage with six assists in six chances.
