SALISBURY, NC – For the second straight week, the men's and women's North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University cross country teams competed at Salisbury Community Park.
But this time, instead of Livingstone College hosting the Livingstone XC Invitational, Catawba College hosted the ChicknLegs XC Throwdown at Salisbury Community Park on Saturday. The Catawba women claimed the top six spots, but the A&T women's cross country team landed someone in the top 10 in sophomore
Aniyah Francis.
Francis finished 10
th overall and ninth among the collegiate athletes in the 5k, running 20:17.0. She scored nine points to lead the Aggies, who finished third with 74 points. Junior
Jessica Daniel also placed among the top 15, running a 5k best of 21:21.03 and scoring 13 points. Catawba won the women's event with 15 points, led by ChicknLegs winner Mandi Pollard, who ran 18:18.83, followed by teammates Hannah Caudill (18:32.92) and Eden Barnwell in the top three. Emory & Henry College placed second with 63 points.
Freshman
Myla Randall and sophomore
Kendall McPhatter scored 15 points and 17 points, respectively. Randall ran a 5k best of 21:59.70 to place 17
th, and McPhatter also ran a personal record at 22:20.61. Freshman
Ivy Bridges (22:45.98) also competed on Saturday. On the men's side, the Catawba Indians took the top nine spots to win the 8k event with 15 points. Emory and Henry placed second with 64 points, followed by the Aggies with 90 points. Junior
Abishek Pradhan led the Aggies by running a 27:13.84, scoring 10 points and finishing 16
th.
A&T sophomore
DeMonte Peterson, last week's Livingstone XC Invitational winner, placed 22
nd, posting 14 points in 28:10.91. Senior
Kaleb Conway posted 19 points for A&T, finishing 30
th in 29:23.94. Freshman
Chandler Chapman (29:54.05), sophomore
Taysaun Wilson (30:08.20), and junior Glen Stiles (30:22.44) also competed for A&T on Saturday.
The Aggies will run their final regular-season meet when they travel to Kernersville, NC, to compete in the Spartan Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro at The Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex.
