GREENSBORO — Junior
Tyne Ross had an unusual night, struggling against the College of Charleston on a Friday in early October.
She has been herself ever since, including over the weekend when the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University volleyball team swept two matches from the William & Mary Tribe. Ross's play helped her earn another Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.
Ross's co-offensive player of the year award is her fourth. She has eight weekly honors overall, including four CAA Rookie of the Year awards during the 2024 season. She averaged 4.71 kills and hit .370 while helping the Aggies win their first two conference matches of the season. She also averaged 4.93 points and 1.29 digs per set.
"Congrats to Tyne," said A&T head coach
Hal Clifton. "She had an outstanding weekend. It was good to see her move the ball around and work aggressively at the net."
Ross had nine kills against Charleston in a home loss on Oct. 2 at Moore Gymnasium, the first time she failed to reach double-digit kills in 36 matches. She bounced back the next night with 16 against Charleston before her huge showing at William & Mary in this past weekend's CAA matches. In A&T's three-set win over the Tribe on Friday, Ross recorded 15 kills and made only two attack errors on 30 attempts, posting a .433 hitting percentage. She added six digs, one total block, and received 16 serves without an error. On Saturday, Ross had 18 kills, a .326 hitting percentage, a service ace, and three digs. She also received 14 serves and made only one error.
Ross and the Aggies return to action on Friday when they start a weekend series with UNC Wilmington at Moore Gymnasium. The first match on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. The teams meet again Saturday at 5 p.m.
